First, there is often a misunderstanding of what crude oil is used for, “Crude oil is not exclusively used to produce gasoline. Crude oil is used to produce thousands of products that we use every day, not just gasoline and diesel. Crude oil feedstock is used to create the plastics that encase our cell phones and televisions, asphalt for our roads and even the latex gloves doctors use when delivering a baby. ”(Myths & Facts-TC) One of the production company’s executives criticized the misinformed by saying, “The people suggesting that the oil Keystone XL will transport will be used to exclusively to make gasoline or diesel is simply a guess and they know that.”
This forced many businesses to shut down. During the fall, the city went from a depressing nobody to an exciting new boom town. An oil well in east Texas was discovered! Once people heard about the oil well, they rushed into town. Within a few days’ thousands of folks flooded into Kilgore, setting up tents and shacks in every single unfilled vacant area.
The president has made statements to invade Iraq since 2002.Stating that "Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror," and even adding that “states like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger.” is Bush during his speech to invade Iraq. Saddam Hussein -was president of Iraq from 1979 to 2003. In his time in office Saddam suppressed the groups that opposed him.
Mining is this state’s biggest form of income as it gives such a great natural resource. They also mine diamonds but those are more of a rare find and those who find them must transport them straight to the capitol building. Although this is a booming business, it is the only primary product that they sell throughout the entire state meaning that those who are in the mining business tend to be those who are better off in life and those who aren’t in the mining business and instead in the herding business struggle more in the life than they wish to be. Because of this there is much poverty that sweeps through this state. It doesn’t help that they have constant landslides that destroy homes and property; property that most people can’t afford to rebuild on.
Along with creating new jobs, the Dakota Pipeline transports crude oil. We should continue construction of the Dakota Pipeline is to increase production of crude oil. Our country uses more crude oil than any other country. We need to bring our production of crude oil higher than our consuming rate. If we continue to use more crude oil than make it, our country will depend more and more on foreign oil when we should be relying on ourselves.
Then there’s a Texas oil patch shooting,
The oil boom is real and is definitely happening. This so called “black gold” can turn an ordinary man into a millionaire in mere seconds. It takes hard work and patience, but it pays off when you become rich due to oil prosperity. The oil boom caused one of the biggest social changes in Texas history. Petroleum was first found on a small hill called Spindletop near Beaumont in 1901.
A situation that was negative during the oil discoveries in the early 20th century was not everyone benefited from the jobs, discovery, ect. Mexican and African Americans were mostly the the ones who did not benefit from the oil drilling because they could not get good jobs. The only jobs that Mexican an African American’s could get were unskilled jobs. Unskilled jobs like house cleaning, clearing land, and carrying baggages. In 1949, Willsie Lee Mckinney, an African American women, moved to the booming Midland because she realized that she could make more money a day their than in other places.
On February 17, 2014, Douglas McIntyre wrote an article called, “Gas Prices Above $3 In All 50 States.” Douglas McIntyre informs us about the different prices that range throughout various states. McIntyre uses GasBuddy as a reference and he says that gas prices below $3.15 occur to only a few states. Texas and Oklahoma are oil-producing states and even their oil prices have increased to $3.20. Today, oil prices are continuing to sell at above $100 a barrel and are likely to continue to sell at that price in the far term.
Now imagine other properties, such as, Indian owned land, private lands, and state lands that are not included in the number of acres used for gas and oil sites. Drilling on federal and Indian lands are primarily regulated by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). As of March 2, 2017, there were approximately 29,996 approved oil wells and approximately 27,780 approved natural gas wells in NM alone (Fracking in New Mexico). Majority of the Dine people living on the reservation don't have access to clean, running water and they must haul it in tanks or barrows back home or to a crop field.

Oil has made a great number of impacts on Texas and its social economy. The discovery of oil helped grow many places, start many jobs and towns. It has also helped people in the lower class and helped people in the upper class. Overall, oil has changed Texas. Researchers have “requested data from Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Texas, all states heavily involved in the recent surge of oil and gas drilling, about complaints related to hydraulic fracking for oil and gas” for their research on fracking (Dechert). The research collected was shocking, over 2,000 complaints in Texas alone and several cases on well water contamination within the states mentioned in Decherd’s article. People need to be alerted about how real fracking is and the damages it is doing. These complaints and cases should be a wakeup call to the world and say that we should put it to a
