Old Testament Believers had power. a. The 70 elders prophesied when the Spirit came upon them. Numbers 11:25.

d. Elisha parted the water with the mantle of Elijah. II Kings 2:14.

New Testament Believers had power. a. Jesus gave the twelve apostles authority. Matthew 10:7-8.
b. Jesus gave the twelve apostles power and authority. Luke 9:1, 10:19.
c. Jesus sent out the seventy followers in the same capacity.
d. Jesus declares that all things will be possible to those that believe. Mark 9:33.
e. Jesus told his disciples to wait until the receive power. Luke 24:49.

The basis for our destination. a. The requirement for Heaven.
(1). One must be born again. John 3:1-8.
(This is a spiritual birth)

(2). One must believe in Jesus. John 3:16.
(This is a faith commitment in Jesus as Lord = Romans 10:9-10)

(3). One must have Jesus. John 3:36.

b. What is the nature of eternal life? John 10:28-29.
(1). It is a gift. (It cannot be merited or earned)
(2). It is a onetime experience.
(3). It is a lasting experience. (forever)
(4). Nothing can take it away from us.
(We are secure in the hands of Jesus and the hands of the Father)

c. The results of eternal life are: I Peter 1:23
(1). The spirit-man is incapable of being corrupted.
(2). The Word lives in us forever.
(3). The Word abides in us forever.
d. Our names remain written in Heaven. Luke 10:20, Revelation 3:5.
e. We are spiritually seated with Jesus in Heaven. Ephesians 2:5-6.

We are strangers and pilgrims upon the earth. a. The Old Testament saints looked forward to Heaven. Hebrews 11:13.
