The Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party was founded in 1963 to counter the Mississippi Democratic Party which only allowed participation by whites. The party was developed during the Freedom Summer Hamer and the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, of which Hamer was the vice-chair. In 1964, 40 percent of the population was black, yet they were not allowed to participate in the political system (Bramlett-Solomon 1991, 515). The party registered 60, 000 black voters in the state of Mississippi and after that effort party delegates were sent to the 1964 Democratic Convention.
My hometown parish is called Washington parish, I found that my parish falls under Pleistocene terraces for its major landform with a little bit of Holocene alluvium. The elevation of Washington parish is 73 meters or 240 feet. It is identified with Upland terrace as its aquifer system, its well number is, Wa-13. The depth of its well is 156 feet and it was drilled in 1942. Washington parish has three rivers that run throughout it.
No other school in Mississippi can compare to Ole
Although African Americans have been considered free in terms of the law, in some states, especially Mississippi in the early sixties, the Caucasian population had not evolved past the discrimination and hate they felt towards African Americans. But there were people that wanted to help the African Americans in the deep South. These Civil Rights activists were the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee(SNCC)(Wisconsin). College students from all over America were recruited to help the African Americans with their racial injustice. Freedom summer wanted to do three things for the Mississippi blacks (Wisconsin).
The Southern Defense of Slavery Perhaps the greatest shame in the history of the United States would be how the nation dehumanized an entire race of people, reducing them from individuals to property. The people in power benefited greatly from dehumanization, as the owners of slaves had access to workers who had no choice but to perform any given task with no pay. Farmers of the south used slaves to produce cotton, which kept the southern economy strong, and allowed the north to industrialize. With such a dependency on slaves, it is clear why so many fought so vehemently to keep the institution in place, despite how horrible the practice itself was.
The belief that South Carolina’s governor has weak gubernatorial powers has been a common perception since pre-revolutionary South Carolina. Although the powers of the governor were greatly limited in the beginning of South Carolina’s history, those powers have slowly, but drastically increased over time. Today, South Carolina’s governor is considered to have moderate formal powers as compared to other governors in the United States. The governor has the ability to be extremely powerful if they efficiently exercise both their formal and informal powers. Dating back to 1670, the first governors in pre-revolutionary South Carolina had little executive authority and were appointed by the Carolina Proprietors (Carter and Young 224).
V. Culture and Symbolism The Dixie southern identification associated with the Ole Miss brand is reflective of a place, a time. It is not just an institution, but a place- a marketplace for the existence of that very culture. This associates the institution with the past, easy for people to recognize, and differentiate from other institutions (Hakala & Lemmetyinen, 2013). Its culture commodified and used to garner funding for the school.
Reconstruction in Texas Hits Reconstruction in Texas was never known until after the Civil War. This Civil War left many in debt, and those who opposed secession from the Union were treated horribly during the war. This called for revenge. During the time Former President Abrham Lincoln was in charge and he was a man with a plan. He wanted to restore the Union as quickly as possible.
The movie “Mississippi Masala” directed by Mira Nair, is a heartwarming yet powerful film that reveals a side to racism, separation, and oppression that many may be unaware of. In a specific scene in the movie, the main character Mina attends a small gathering at the home of her romantic interest, Demetrius. Demetrius’ cousin Tyrone finds Mina to be appealing and delivers his best form of a pick-up line: “You think if I go to India and get me one of those Aladdin lamps, rub it real good, you think I’d get me a genie like you?” This scene brings to light a few valuable messages.
Starting at a young age, people are very impressionable and willing to believe anything they are told. The common tale of the Tooth Fairy is one of the most common examples of childhood misconception. At a young age, we are told that when we lose a tooth and put it underneath our pillow at night, a magical fairy will come claim it and give a cash prize in return for the tooth. Eventually, the belief in this story fades as children mature and learn that the supposed “tooth fairy” is actually the child’s parents. Likewise, when children are told stories by their family members or teachers about American history, they have no reason to doubt such stories, automatically assuming they came from credible sources.
In Austin, Texas, members of the Texas State Board of Education use persuasion to gain votes for their personal beliefs on whether teaching methods and textbook standards should be revised or upheld. Among the board members are citizens who are a variety of educators. Also, there are experts who come to voice their knowledge of new findings, and debate about old and new educational facts. Although there were experts, there was much debate on spoken facts.

East Tennessee has an important place in history. There are also many famous Tennessean’s that played a role in history. There are many attractions in east TN including the race track, rhythm and roots and other fun attractions.
According to Dan Rather, an American journalist, “A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity.” Even though financial strife plagues many at one time or another, the common goal to attain a degree knows few boundaries. The implementation of scholarship programs plays an integral role in aiding students in acquiring a college education. For instance, as a student planning on majoring in Latin at Austin Peay State University, I will be reading and analyzing a great deal of Latin literature.
O-H-I-O! The Ohio State University is known for its scarlet and gray colors, Brutus the Buckeye, athletics, innovation in modern research methods, and educational enhancement programs to assist with innovations. It is a public land-grant research college located in Columbus, Ohio. According to the university's official website, OSU is currently ranked 108th among global higher education institutions and ranked within the "top 10 among the public for innovative approaches to curriculum, campus life and facilities" (About the University/The Ohio State University.) With more than 67,700 students enrolled at OSU, the university offers at least 1,400 student organizations and programs.
Reality. There are many ways we can interpret this seven lettered word. We can interpret this as our existence in this universe or lifetime. Or it can be anything that we would want it to be. “The ability to imagine things that are not real, The ability to form a picture in your mind of something that you have not seen or experienced.”
