Oliver Cromwell was born on April 25, 1599. He was born and raised in Huntingdon, England. Oliver served on the Parliamentarian side for the English Civil War. He was known a the Lord Protector of the land. He was elected to the Long and short parliaments. He became known as the radical Puritan. During the English Civil Wars, he was the general on the Parliamentarian side.
He was married to Elizabeth Cromwell. They had nine kids, Richard Cromwell was the only kid that took over anything from his father when he passed. Surely the Battle of Naseby ended with Cromwell’s victory. Cromwell Stated that he did not like the King’s ideas and then in 1646 the King surrendered. After all of this went down Parliament split into two groups. The Independents and the Presbyterians. The Presbyterians were the people that basically believed what the king had said and the Independents were the total opposite, they did not like what the king did or had to say. The majority of the Parliament was Presbyterians so the Independents didn't get a lot to say in this time period.
In 1647, Cromwell let the Jews be free for once in his life. This was a big shocker to everyone who lived around. By setting the Jews free really all that happened was he let the Jews settle down in England.
In 1650 Cromwell took his troops to Scotland. He demolished the Scottish army in Dunbar. But another army in Scotland however slipped behind Cromwell’s back while he was still fighting in Scotland. This made Oliver very mad and so he took his troop and followed them. When they caught up to then they broke out into a battle, this battle became known as the Battle of Worcester.
