Manchester State Park, Kitsap Peninsula, Washington: West Beach Outcrop Geology Jason Ott The west beach at Manchester State Park consists of roughly 200m of exposed outcrops with well bedded strata of consisting of the Blakeley formation, of Oligocene age, and poorly consolidated beds of Quaternary age. The northern boundary of the area of interest begins at the southern edge of Middle Point and area terminates at Clam Bay to the south. The Blakeley formation consists of alternating sequence of coarse sandstones, mudstones, and sub-rounded/brecciated conglomerates.
The Fountain formation created the Ancestral rocky mountains. The third oldest formation is the Lyons formation, which is approximately 270 million years. The rock found here was a sedimentary rock; sandstone. its grain size is less than 1 millimeter. Quartz, Hematite, K-feldspar and Muscovite are the minerals in rock.

The Oregon Trail Nebraska was the first state to join the Union after the Civil War. This state is mostly known for its cattle, corn, and unicameral legislature. However, Nebraska is also known for its historic trails, which in the early years were carved out by pioneers, explorers and gold seekers into the western frontier. The history of Nebraska during the 1800s is unique because of the Oregon Trail; Nebraska played an important role in the Oregon Trail. Some people thought it was preposterous to travel the Oregon Trail to move into an unknown country.
Traveling over 1,500 miles, through what would become the four states of Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, and finally Montana, the fugitive Nez Perce kept moving – they were determined to reach safety for themselves and their families. Their long journey took them through the newly established Yellowstone National Park where they encountered several groups of tourists. The journey lasted more than three months, across mountains, rivers, and prairies. The U.S. Army, commanded by General Oliver O. Howard, pursued them most of the way until Colonel Nelson A. Miles took over the chase. There were many battles -- White Bird Canyon, Clearwater, Big Hole, Camas Meadows, and Canyon Creek.

Secondly, there were people who wanted the games to return to bring peace, like the organizers of previous games. Also, there were some people who wanted the Olympic for financial reasons.

There are many natural disasters that affect the world, for example, volcanoes. Mount St. Helens is known to be the most active volcano in the Cascade Range in Washington; effecting the people and the state. It was first recognized as a volcano in 1835! Before the eruption on May 18,1980, Mount St. Helens was a beautiful symmetrical cone, 3,000 meters above sea level. For most of the 20th century, many people viewed this mountain and recreation area as a beautiful and peaceful place, but after the volcano erupted in 1980 that view point was shattered.
Washington, D.C., or The District of Columbia, is the capital of the United States of America. In the summer of 2011, I traveled there for the first time because my dad would be working there the whole summer, so my family decided we were going to stay there for two months. That summer was filled with exploring the interesting museums and iconic monuments of Washington, D.C. We even took a train to New York and stayed there for a couple of days. We’ve been to Washington D.C. twice since.
