Opening statement
Physical fitness is a critical component of military readiness, and the US Army has a long history of developing and implementing training programs to improve the physical fitness of its soldiers. One of the most recognized programs is the Physical Readiness Training (PRT) program, reintroduced in 2008 as part of a more considerable effort to improve soldiers' fitness and readiness.

This program focuses on improving physical readiness but also mental and emotional well-being, nutrition, and sleep to enhance overall performance and resilience. H2F is based on the principle that optimal performance and readiness require a holistic approach to health and fitness.
A study conducted by the US Army examined the productiveness of the H2F program in improving soldier readiness and found that soldiers who participated in H2F training significantly improved aerobic fitness, muscular endurance, and body composition compared to those who did not participate (Krause et al., 2021).
According to the official Army H2F website, the program is designed to "improve the overall health, fitness, and performance of Soldiers while preventing injury and disease." The program has several components: physical readiness training, performance nutrition, mental resilience training, and sleep optimization.
