Operation Anaconda was a complex battle conducted under difficulties circumstances in a period over 14 days. This battle ended in American victory, but the difficult early stages in the Command Structure organization lead to mishaps and fatal mistakes that marked the success of this operation. The designed command structure in Afghanistan lacked of main components needed for the accomplishment of this mission.

The CFLCC and CFACC located in the Persian Gulf instructed Anaconda operations remotely. SOF teams planned with Afghan troops in ground, others SOF teams were located in other parts of Afghanistan conducting different missions. SOF teams requested air strikes; CFACC in coordination with Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) carried the ultimate decision.
COMMANDS ORGANIZATION DURING OPERATION ANACONDA The withdrawal of the Afghan forces scarfed the United States ground forces. Our teams fought the enemy without additional forces to provide tactical support during the valley battle, causing them to encounter direct fire with the enemy.
ISSUES Some of the issues that occurred during Operation Anaconda relate to the lack of the joint command structure in order to lead the mission.
