The nation of Australia is one of the world’s most influential countries. Australia is rich in culture and history. Australia has many aspects that make it one of the most unique countries in the world. This paper will look at Australia in terms of operational environmental variables, how Australia influences the world economically and strategically. The first operational environmental variable that we will discuss will be how Australia conducts its politics and how the government is structured. Australia has a constitutional monarchy. Australia’s military consist of three branches Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy and Royal Australian Air Force. All three make up the Australian Defense Force or (ADF). The Australian Army is the primary land force. It is broken up into three parts the, Headquarters of the first Division, Special Operations Command and Forces Command. Each command has its own mission within the Australian Army. Headquarters of the first Division is responsible for high-level training and deploying on a large scale. Special Operations Command is responsible for training and handling most Special Forces units and missions. Forces Command is responsible for the training of the basic combat infantry units and other combat type units. The Australian Defense Force has a joint command. This command has personnel from all three branches and is currently known as the Headquarters Joint Operations Command. This is the command and control for the force itself. The Australian Defense Force have air defense but it is not anything on the scale of the United States. The ADF has Air Land Batteries that have the RBS-70 surface to air missile system and has been accompanied with the Portable Search and Target Acquisition Radar- Extended Range.
