Through her life story, it is evident that Oprah Winfrey is a successful leader who has been able to rise from one of the severest challenges anyone could face starting from her childhood through her establishment of OWN. Some of Oprah's key strengths would be her tenacity, ambition, and optimism, which all played a role in her network's success. One of Oprah's prominent leadership style elements would be her heavy reliance on compassion and emotions. Oprah’s morality has also led her to reject many opportunities where she would have further succeeded financially. That being said, it is evident from what we learned in class about leadership styles that Oprah Winfrey relies heavily on agreeableness as her method of leadership. Oprah Winfrey does not fall short of this style as we have seen her step in several times and take matters into her own hands, this was shown when she made ultimate decisions to lay off one-fifth of the workers when her organization was not succeeding (Business Insider, 2012).
