Media proprietor, talk show host, author, actress, producer, and philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey has shown people that it does not matter what you are given; it matters what you do with those resources.
Winfrey had a mentally and physically overwhelming childhood. Her father left her mother when she was conceived. She lived in poverty and often had to wear potato sacks to school. At a young age, she was sexually abused and molested by her uncle and other relatives. At fourteen she became pregnant and considered suicide(Staff). She had a miscarriage and went to live with her father. She knew she had only two choices- to stay where she was and do nothing more with her life or to make the most out of her situation to get where she wanted to be. Winfrey performed very well in secondary school and earned a scholarship to Tennessee. After college, she became interested in informative media. Winfrey acquired a job at a local news station and over time landed her own program

They chose to do more with their knowledge and resources to make themselves better people and to better their lives. Because of their hard work, they were able to accomplish what most could not and eventually they all found success. My mother wanted more than to live her entire life in the ghettos, so she worked hard, found a passion and found success. Bill Gates had an idea and a passion. When he put it in motion, his dream became reality. Oprah Winfrey did not want to live in poverty, so she got an education and used her knowledge to help others. I admire these three individuals for the work they have done to follow their passion and become the successful people they are today. And after they achieved this success, they used it to help others. In a world engulfed in hate and pain, these three people are the superheroes that balance out the immense bad with great good.
