Geraid Way once said “Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary.” An ordinary person who walks beside you on the sidewalk or smiles at you when you pass by them could be the extraordinary hero that saves you when danger is present. A hero is an ordinary person who has extraordinary traits of acting quickly in a difficult situation, being determined to stand up for what they believe in and always steps up to help even if it means possibly getting injured.
Heroes are people who will respond without hesitation when danger is upon them. For example, a young man by the name of Welles Crowther was willing to scurry up and down a staircase multiple times to save the members of the burning tower. Although he was able to save …show more content…

In the essay by John Henry Newman titled “ A Definition of a Gentleman”, John states that “He never speaks of himself except when compelled, never defends himself by a mere retort, he has no ears for slander or gossip, is scrupulous in imputing motives to those who interfere with him, and interprets everything for the best (SB, 79.)” In this statement, Newman is describing how a hero is humble and wouldn’t tell a lie or listen to one. He would always be kind and only speaks nicely. John also states that “He is never mean or little in his disputes, never takes unfair advantage, never mistakes personalities or sharp sayings for arguments, or insinuates evil which he dare not say out (SB, 79.)” Newman describes the overall mind of a hero and how they are respectful and mellow. As well as how they wouldn’t turn away even if you did, but would continue to help in any situation. To add to this, a poem by Nina Cassian titled “A Man” also tells about the character of a hero on another point of view. “While fighting for his country, he lost an arm and was suddenly afraid… from that moment on, he set himself to do everything with twice as much enthusiasm. And where the arm had been torn away a wing grew (SB, 56.)” These couple sentences from the poem show how this man could have easily turned his back, but instead he decided to step up and inspire others to do
