The Aztecs used a sacred calendar. Their writing system they used had symbols and glyphs. They were the ones who created the 365 day agricultural calendar. Two of the most popular games they played were the ball game and the flying bird game. The Aztecs liked sports as there entertainment.
They were originally nomads that came from regions of Northern Mexico or the Southwestern United States. They say from a mythical island called Aztlan, “The Place of Herons.” Because of great drought, the Mexica and other tribes that were located in the southwestern United States and in northern Mexico, known as the Chichimeca, were forced to migrate. Moving south, they settled in the Central of Mexico. At first, the Aztecs were mercenaries for others but as their reputations grew, the fierce warriors came to surface.
The Aztecs were an ancient civilization found in Mesoamerica. Two aspects that they are known for are building temples and pyramids and also known for developing a form of writing called hieroglyphics. However, historians should emphasize on agriculture. History: Aztec Life and Culture The Aztec civilization is one of the most spectacular examples of culture and art found in world history. The Aztecs were a group of American Indians speaking Nahuatl who arrived on the North American continent from the arid cactus lands of Northwest. They settled in Mexico for centuries where they were initially enslaved by the other Nahua tribes before emerging as a powerful tribe. The history of the Central Valley of Mexico after tenth century A.D. is dominated by a long tradition of tribal conflicts that led to the fall of several civilizations, replaced by subsequent Nahua tribes.
