Humans project insecurity in their own way, such as by belittling others, accusing, or mocking. In William Shakespeare's Othello, Iago projects his own insecurities on others as they cause rage and hate for the other characters, is full of jealousy, which turns it into fuel for evil, and becomes ego-manic who only cares about his power and self preservation. Iago’s insecurity causes him to deceive other characters by projecting his anger and jealousy onto them. Iago’s mental issues force him to project his bad behaviors, such as his insecurity, jealousy, lack of humanity, and selfishness into the good and innocence of others. By twisting the facts and the truth, he makes himself look better, even though he is the root and stem of all problems. Iago acts like this only to better his reputation and character, deceiving the characters of who he actually is. His deep-rooted insecurities are the main cause of his rage and hate towards everyone else, his jealousy towards the characters turns into the fuel he uses to ruin peoples lives, and his ego and need for self-preservation makes him do anything that gives him more power. It is very evident that Iago acts this way not because he can’t comprehend others emotions, but because he can comprehend others emotions but lacks the ability to comprehend his own emotions, leading to an insecure and belittling
