Papa John’s needs to include more healthy food options, analysis prove that there is a need for them to hold true to their slogan of better ingredients. Those that are concerned with healthy ingredients want healthy pizza, not just some ingredients that are sourced from better areas. They should also expand their menu to include complimentary healthy foods to go with pizza. This would include gluten free and whole wheat dough options. In addition, three different salads, three organic dressings, three healthier chicken options, and three healthier dessert options will be offered. Papa John’s will need to spend the next 6 months working on what healthy items they will include on their menu, the recipes, where they plan to purchase these ingredients, and research to find out what items the public prefers. The menu will include three salads, three organic dressing, whole wheat and gluten free dough, gluten free cheese, desserts, and three healthy chicken options (that include free range or grass feed chicken). During this time they should keep each franchise informed of any changes. After the first six months is done, the next six months will need to be spent on training each franchise owner and marketing the new menu options. This should allow the company to start the new healthy options at the beginning of the fiscal year 2017. They should pick stores across the United States that are in high traffic areas. The store layout should be organized in a manner that is conducive to the customer. The carry out and dine in customers will have their own areas to pick up their food that does not interfere with each other. Keeping the sections separate will help prevent deterring customers from waiting in line. The building lay out will be where the carry out customers can enter the store and pay at a different counter. Or the company can chose to have a parking spot that they can pull in and a employee can take it out to their car. This address the strategic issue of not making revenue on customers that want to dine-in. This is vital to Papa John’s because the top competitor, Pizza Hut, offers dine-in and is very successful. If they can offer this also, this will increase their customer segment and perhaps grow them closer to top 1. In addition, if they implement a strategy that is better that Pizza Hut’s dine in options then this will also help grow their company and potentially take some of Pizza Hut’s customers. Pizza Hut currently does not offer separate areas for pick up and customers wait line for services (both dine-in and carry out).Keeping the din-in and carry out sections separate will help with efficiency and time.
