The factors that influenced me to become a paraeducator are my passion to work with children and the desire to make a positive difference in their lives. I want to help children succeed and reach their full potential both socially and academically. When my twin boys (who are now 21) were in elementary school, I spent many hours volunteering weekly in both of their classrooms. I helped the teacher by preparing learning materials and I worked in small groups or with individuals with reading and math. I loved the time I spent in the schools with the children and loved the school environment. I am a team player, extremely patient and understanding and have a positive attitude and knew I would make a great paraeducator.

I follow my students' behavior plan. By following this plan my student has thrived this year. He has made academic growth and socially, he is a well liked student and is able to cooperatively play with others.
I assist teachers and providers with maintaining learner-centered supportive environments. I provide a positive and welcoming learning environment by always being friendly, patient, supportive and respectful to all the students in the classroom which builds a sense of community where all members are important and included.
I assist teachers and providers with planning and organizing learning experiences. During times when my student is with another teacher and my presence is not required I assist the classroom teacher or special education teachers with preparing learning materials. I have used the copier, computer, laminator and various other educational materials.
