Over the year, we have read four different stories that each has had unique stories and messages that go along with them and enhance the stories. The four books that we have read are Ender’s Game, The Odyssey, Night, and Romeo and Juliet. Two of the stories that we read were the books Ender’s Game and Romeo and Juliet. Both of the stories have different plots, they have similar themes, and their main characters have some similarities between them.
Furthermore, Otsuka’s writing is often very plain and emotionless in order to make the emotional moments stand out, such as putting down her dog with a straight face on, and then having to leave her cozy him and telling the kids that they are going on a “trip,” which was really difficult to do. In addition, she employed a variety of anecdotes such as vignettes, poems, and allusions to add depth to the story. The main themes in the book that stood out to me were hope and grit. No matter how unfairly they were treated, the family showed courage, resilience, and resolve to overcome the situation. These two themes are complementary because their hope gives them grit and their grit lets them hold onto their hope.

The topic of this essay is to explain to the reader how there are multiple sides of Truth. We can see it from different points of views, same narrator but different story line.
War is an event that can have an effect on even the strongest-willed soldier. One of the major themes was morality and the nature of morality. In “The Things They Carried”, there were so many traumatic events that happened throughout the novel. Over time, the soldiers were physically, mentally, and emotionally affected by the events that happened to themselves and each other. Being exposed to these horrific events, one will see how the soldiers’ morality goes back and forth with what’s right and what’s wrong.
Moral corruption is not being concerned with the distinction between good or bad, or right or wrong and only focusing on one’s own mean to the end. Moral corruption leads to the failure of distinguishing between what is right or wrong for them and only care about what the person feels is right. In Flannery O’Connor’s Wise Blood and “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” Flannery O’Connor displays moral corruption through several characters including Asa Hawks and Hazel Motes from Wise Blood and the Grandmother and the Misfit from “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” In Wise Blood, Hazel Motes is a person whose behavior or attitude sets him apart from others and then there is Asa Hawks who is an evangelist and thinks it is right to falsely preach and is a fraud.
In this essay, I am going to argue that although these stories are different in their structure and style as well as in the ultimate response of the main characters, the theme, tone, and general events are very similar. In both stories the main characters had a close encounter
Thesis Statement: In the short story, Two Kinds, Amy Tan develops a narrator who as a child seeks her mother’s approval of her, but develops into a child with her own mind, and by the end of the story embodies a woman who realizes that her mother has her own expression of love for her daughter. Thus, Amy Tan depicts a message about Jing-Mei, the narrator, accepting that everyone, especially her mother, has their own expressions of love. This will look different depending on who a person is and their background. Even though Jing-Mei does not always feel her mother loves her, she learns that her mother loves her by reflecting on her childhood and struggles.
The novel also shows what many families go through on there journey to there destination, it shows the heartbreak that they face and the items that are left behind. This is well illustrated in the novel when Suyuan was on the walk escaping the Japanese the piles of family heirlooms left behind on the path such as when "She left the suitcases behind, keeping only the food and a few clothes. And later she also dropped the bags of wheat flour and rice". (Tan, 239) The novel also illustrated how many people were lying at the side of the pathway due to the fact that they had given up on there escape. In life, there are all different kinds of sacrifices being made by people, whether it be big and life changing or small and not so affecting. As Mitch Albom said, “Sacrifice is a part of life. It’s supposed to be. It’s not something to regret. It's something to aspire to.”
I have chosen Into Thin Air for my project because the main theme of this novel is Danger and Morality. I feel as there’s danger and morality in my city and around the world, with the natural events occurring. Into Thin Air is a great work of literature because of Krakauer’s use of imagery and symbolism to describe the situation of the mountain. Also, the plot is exciting, and it leaves the reader in shock on each page. The writer tells it as it is.
Many families have many traditions, but one tradition that is common among all households is that they read fairy tales to their children right before they put them to sleep. They do this to fill their minds with good positive thoughts and leave them with something to think about. Religion dictates the characteristics of familiar fairy tales as religion provides a moral and ethical framework for having a good life, an ideal goal parents want their children to have. On the whole, fairy tales are constantly changed to adhere to cultural or social beliefs that are deemed important by diverse people in a community.
Although Walter eventually does the morally correct thing he still has bad morals. Walter does the right thing by standing up to Lindner. When Lindner actually arrives and Walter is about to disgrace himself and the black community by begging Lindner for the money he can’t do it. Instead he says, “We don’t want to make no trouble for nobody or fight no causes, and we will try to be good neighbors.
“The most finite resource for all humans is time.” My father says this to me all the time, and I’m beginning to understand why he says it. So my personal philosophy, at this point in time, is that since time on Earth is limited, one must make that short time meaningful and make the most of that time. This can be done by living life by a moral code, chasing one’s goals, as well as being aware of one’s own deficiencies. Living by a moral code requires that one defines that code.
