Over the year, we have read four different stories that each has had unique stories and messages that go along with them and enhance the stories. The four books that we have read are Ender’s Game, The Odyssey, Night, and Romeo and Juliet. Two of the stories that we read were the books Ender’s Game and Romeo and Juliet. Both of the stories have different plots, they have similar themes, and their main characters have some similarities between them. The two stories have plots that differ structurally from one another. In Ender’s Game, the story follows an archetype hero’s journey where Ender gets his call to adventure and then continues his journey like it does in the hero’s journey. Themes in stories have usually two sides to it which is the first one and the opposite to it, and this is a contrast of theme which occurs in each of the two stories. Ender’s Game also has a theme of love because Ender loves his sister Valentine and went to battle school in order to save her. Romeo and Juliet also has a theme about love that is somewhat similar to that of Ender’s Game. It starts off with Romeo being in love with Rosaline, and later he and Juliet fall in love with each other. Their deaths are all because they fell in love with each other and couldn’t stand being without the other. Everything in the story is based around one person loving another. Romeo and Juliet can also has the theme about hate which is represented by the two households that have hated each other for a long time. Another example is that Tybalt hates Romeo ever since he had crashed the party. In Ender’s Game, hate is another one of its themes. The biggest and most obvious one is the hate between Ender and his brother Peter. The two brothers have always hated each other since childhood. There is also hate between Bonzo and Ender. Bonzo hated Ender ever since Ender joined his army and later beat him in the battles. Both of the story can be seen to have the same themes that are opposites from each other.
