Themes in stories have usually two sides to it which is the first one and the opposite to it, and this is a contrast of theme which occurs in each of the two stories. Ender’s Game also has a theme of love because Ender loves his sister Valentine and went to battle school in order to save her. Romeo and Juliet also has a theme about love that is somewhat similar to that of Ender’s Game. It starts off with Romeo being in love with Rosaline, and later he and Juliet fall in love with each other. Their deaths are all because they fell in love with each other and couldn’t stand being without the other.

There are many themes in both O Brother where Art Thou and the Odyssey which seem to be strongly similar. Many similarities between the characters and their actions surface through their actions. In my essay I will not only compare and contrast the most important elements of the mentioned works, but will also discuss the importance of heroic figures and the less favored themes, such as revenge and foolish fearlessness. It is important to note that both works are taken place during hard times. Odysseus’ journey is dated around 1200 BCE, or the ‘Dark Age’.
Two stories, set in completely different timelines, may not have striking parallels at first glance. However, with closer inspection, Homer’s The Odyssey and the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? have obvious similarities, from the characters to the themes shown.
To begin with, the grudge between the two families, Montague and Capulet, resulted in the children making their love discrete. It was clear that because of the feud, both families would not approve of the act. Juliet's father claims he will disown her if she doesn't marry the designated person who he deemed right to become her husband. He gave off the impression that he will disapprove of anyone else. The family riot has caused Romeo and Juliet's love to continue in secrecy which lead to foolish deeds and unfortunate death.

The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a story about two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. These two lovers are in two different families, The Capulets(Juliet's family) and The Montagues (Romeo's family).The two families have a deep hatred for each other, and are constantly fighting in the streets. Romeo and Juliet decide to put their families hatred behind them to pursue their love. This decision and many others would ultimately result in their deaths. It is based on a true hero’s journey back home. There are many correlations and yet differences between the Odyssey and the film. Although the overall plot of “O Brother Where Art Thou?” is vaguely similar to the Odyssey, there are certain “episodes” that closely mirror the film’s classical influence.
