In terms of favorites, many Russian peasants idolized Nicholas the Wonderworker because of his agricultural powers. Peasants, as we know by now, heavily depended on agriculture for their survival. In legend #8, you can see how much higher regards the peasant had for Saint Nicholas than he did the Elijah the Prophet. To summarize the events of the story, Saint Nicholas guided the peasant to embrace Elijah as much as he had embraced him. He did so by remembering to burn a candle for him (it was even bigger than Saint Nicholas), thanking him for how merciful he was to him.
The saint that I chose for my confirmation saint is Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. I chose her because of her story. The story of her conversion to Christianity and her extraordinary holiness was an inspiration to me when I was searching for saints. She was the first Native American Saint in the United States of America and Canada. When she was four, she contracted smallpox which left her face disfigured, impairing her eyesight, and depriving her of her parents.
Saint paper: Our lady of Guadalupe The Virgin of Guadalupe is the patron saint of Mexico. On December 9, 1531, the Lady of Guadalupe appeared to an Aztec Indian whom had just converted to the Catholic Faith, his name is Juan Diego. Mary asked Juan Diego to tell the Bishop to build a church in the location she needed it to be built. Juan Diego carried the news to the Bishop, but the Bishop wanted proof that the message he was brought was directly from the Lady of Guadalupe herself. Juan Diego went back and told her what the Bishop had asked for.
Finally the last point is that Crispin was born on St.Giles feast day. Crispin even says “That life of mine began on the Feast of St.Giles.” Now this is one of the biggest reasons of St.Giles being the best saint for Crispin because it’s another way to show how the patrons describes Crispin so well. It also makes the reader wonder and want to search up St.Giles and that make the reader get an idea of Crispin’s personality early on in the book. That’s why St.Giles is the best saint to represent Crispin.
The Martyrdom of St. Perpetua and Felicity, which is a story about Perpetua’s trial due to her beliefs in Christianity, was written in the year 203 by three different authors, Perpetua, Satururs, and an unknown narrator. Perpetua wrote her part of the story while she was in prison, perhaps to give others the strength to stand up for what they believe in. Perpetua lived in Carthage under the Roman Empire, where the paterfamilias meant everything. The paterfamilias is the father of the household; they have the ability to take away the life of their children which means they have complete control over them. However, in The Martyrdom of St. Perpetua and Felicity, Perpetua disobeys her father.
The true origins of Christina of Markyate’s hagiography are unclear, leading to unanswered questions and a shroud of mystery around the production of such a tale. The composer of Christina’s story remains anonymous to this day; however, it is believed that the author was someone from the St. Albans monastery in England who had a close relationship with Christina during her life. The details written out in Christina’s hagiography appeared to come directly from the women herself, suggesting that the author repeatedly met with Christina in person and was trusted enough to be told about her trials and visions. In addition, the composer refers to St. Albans as “our monastery,” supporting the idea behind his location being that of St. Albans. There
The Virgin of Guadalupe is a worldly known work of art; Jeanette Favrot Peterson questions the meaning of this iconic symbol in her article The Virgin of Guadalupe: Symbol of Conquest or Liberation? Peterson argues that this symbol is not only of religious connotation but of political value to freedom as well. Furthermore, paraphrasing her claims, that it was not until the nineteenth and twentieth century’s did the image reach its fullest potential of bringing together a fragmented people and become known as the “Mother of Mexicans.” The legend says that Juan Diego was visited by the Virgin on the hill of Tepeyacac and that she sent a message with him that she wanted a church built in her name, only after the third visit was he able to convince

KATE CHOPIN’S “THE STORM” RESEARCH PAPER I believe that most talented authors and artist use their life experiences to contribute to their work or projects. In the case of Kate Chopin I found it interesting that she used her past experience of an affair with Albert to ignite the story “The Storm.” Kate Chopin linked the use of names and setting with the stories she wrote based on her actual life experiences.
Witness/Narrative: Joan of Arc In 1430 I was called a living Saint, now I’m called schizophrenic. But you can call me Joan of Arc. At age 13 I began to hear the voice of God in my head telling me to crown Charles VII, the heir of France.
