“The Warrior is Here, Now.” (Millman) The Journey in Peaceful Warrior is a major focus in Peaceful Warrior. In the movie, Millman struggles in his journey. Dan seems calm and collected. Then he meets Socrates, and his path starts to change. Unfortunately, he constantly battling himself with his ego, one of the main conflicts in Peaceful Warrior. The first event in Peaceful Warrior that is an example of self vs alter ego is when Dan dreams about his leg getting broken. Dan is having a dream about him doing gymnastics, then he goes for a move no one has ever done before. Then breaks one of his legs while landing. Dan later says “You can live a whole life time never being awoke.” Dan has not yet to understand what is happening to him. Obviously, Dan is struggling with something in his life. A second example in Peaceful Warrior that is representing self vs alter ego is seen when Dan is fighting himself on top of a tower. When Socrates said, this Dan starts to train again for gymnastics. In a while Dan feels that he can go again and goes to the gymnastics gym with his friends. Dan starts to break down again when he sees that his coach gave up on him and all his bad feelings start to come back. Dan starts to feel angry with Socrates for telling him to do gymnastics again. Once Dan did gymnastics again he does not want to give it up. Socrates now thinks that Dan is ready for trip that he had plan since Dan has visited him. Dan starts to feel a little upset at Socrates again for bringing him to this trip for a rock, then he realizes why he brought him to this trip.
