Throughout my life I have come from and created a few identities for myself. Perhaps, the most dominant identities that have been apart of my life are being an athlete and being a family orientated man. In this paper I will write about how my identities have shaped my life. First off I believe my biggest identity is being an athlete.
In high school my dream job was to be a singer and I’ve never thought I would be able to study hard. So I’ve studied music, French, Drama. My year ten maths teacher even told my parents that I would never be a doctor or a lawyer because I was rubbish at maths. I actually wanted to go for an “arts” degree but my Dad insisted that I should get a ‘real degree’.
My educational philosophy has been in development for 15 years. It is a product of my own experiences in school, as well as my opinions on what skills should be taught, and to what extent different components of the child should be developed. The academic, social, emotional, and cognitive development of the children can be heavily influenced in PreK and kindergarten classrooms. It is dependent on the teacher to conduct their classroom in a manner that successfully facilitates the development of each child’s faculties. As a future teacher, it is critical that I enter the classroom with a clear philosophy in regards to how I believe education should be conducted.
For my grammar summary from Grammar Moves: Shaping Who You Are, I read chapter fourteen. This chapter is about past tense. I chose to read this chapter because I feel like past, present, and future tense can easily be a confusing topic and I wanted to be able to properly tell which tense is which. I was also curious about the why past tense was referred to as “grammar for being forgiving” (Finn and Weinstein 79). I also want to be able to write different tenses when I need to.

Definition of Identity Identity is a socially constructed concept. We learn about our own particular identity and the identity of others through interactions with family, peers, organisations, institutions, the media and through other connections we make in everyday life. Identity is the beliefs, qualities, personality, appearance and culture that make a person who they are. Identity relates to self image, self esteem and individuality. Rasyid (2012) stated that there are four perennial truths that make the teaching and learning process possible to take place in the classroom. If one of these is not available, there will be no teaching and learning process, though the learning process itself may still take place, they are: (1) Teacher, (2) Students, (3) Material and (4) Context of time and place. All of them are related to one another.
