Percy Bysshe Shelley from a young age was very political and outspoken. Percy was born at Field Place, Sussex August 4 1792. Shelley's father was Timothy Shelley, a wealthy landowner who sent him to Syon House Academy at the young age of ten. At Syon House Shelley was bullied and lonely, but he became interested in science; mostly astronomy and chemistry. Shelley also picked up a love for juvenile thrillers that had lots of horrors. Shelley dealt with the bullying in many different ways but most of the time he it was with violent anger and literary pranks which earned him the nickname ’Mad Shelley’. This further alienated him from his father who did not approve and was already upset after what happened at Oxford. This separation from his father added to the money problems the young couple was having and they drifted place to place living on what they could borrow from people. During this time Percy continued to read and this helped form his political and social views. During 1812 and 1814 was when many of Percy's politically motivated writings were written. In June of 1813 Harriet gave birth to a daughter named Lanthe and Percy a year later in 1814 fell in love with Mary Godwin. They eloped and went to France in July and travel through europe. It turns out when all this was happening Harriet had been pregnant with a son Charles who was born in November of 1814. In February of 1815 Mary gave birth to a tiny little girl but the baby died soon after. Mary was soon again pregnant and in early 1816 gave birth to a son William. In mid may of 1816 is when the memorable meeting of minds happened at Geneva and Shelley wrote Hymn to Intellectual Beauty and Mont Blanc and Mary began to write Frankenstein. When they returned to london and settled in Bath later that year news came that Harriet Shelley ,Percy's actual wife of the time, had drowned herself in London.
