From pages 80 to 82, we learn that the refugee camp it says that ‘Salva made up his mind. He would walk south to Kenya… crowds of other boys followed him. Nobody talked about it, but by the end of the first day Salva had become the leader of a group of about fifteen hundred boys.’ This explains how Salva doesn’t panic and think irrationally about situations like the Itang refugee camp closing, and when he decides to walk to Kenya, he follows through and helps three-fourths of the group arrive in Kenya safely. Obviously, Salva’s determination and hard work helps him get through the factors
Throughout the novel Salva demonstrates determination by pushing himself to do his best and not give up on anything no mater what is going on. One instance where Salva showed determination is on page 65, paragraph 4. “Marial was gone. Uncle was gone, too, murdered by those Nuer men right before salva’s eyes. Marial and uncle were no longer by his side,and they never would be again,but salva knew that both of them would have wanted him to survive,to finish the trip and reach the itang refugee camp safely.
She gets through the transition of being in this horrid environment by convincing herself that it’s all a bad dream. This shows perseverance because she finds a way to cope with the traumatic events she is going through to stay alive and get herself out of this terrible ordeal. But what she does not know yet is how much strength it’s going to take to make it through these events until she finally is
Do you know what it takes to survive? In A Long Walk to water, Salva[how he had to survive]. Salva had to be very brave t do what he did and very strong to do it. There were many factors that helped Salva survive such as persistence, leadership, and strength.
The last peice of evidence is when he became friends with Marial. “Im Marial”,It was good to make a friend”(30) . This quote showes that Marial helped him get comfortoble. In conclusion, it was very clear that relationships with family and tribesmen helped him get through Salva hard
In the book A Long Walk to Water, the main character Salva must overcome a lot of challenges in order for his survival. He is persistent, a hard worker, and just overall a very lucky young boy. These factors are very big reasons for his survival. After reading the book, readers can see that one of the main factors for Salvas survival is hard work.
A major theme in the true story, A Long Walk to Water, by Linda Sue Park is perseverance. Perseverance is to stay steady in what you are doing or in a purpose, especially when you are faced with difficulties. This is a perfect theme for A Long Walk to Water because the main character, Salva Dut, an 11 year old Sudanese boy, faced many difficulties and kept going. He took things ‘bit by bit, one step at a time’, a lesson he learned from his uncle that helped him get through the desert, and he applied it to his life and kept going and believing his family was alive. Even though he almost died many times, he did not give up, and he went back to his home country and helped many people have better lives by building wells and giving them clean drinking water.
A very important theme in the book A Long Walk to Water is perseverance. The first example that perseverance is an important theme is how Nya walks back and forth to a faraway pond 2 times a day, every day, for seven months a year without stopping. Also, on the path, there are thorns everywhere that are painful to remove. Nya only gets a small bit of water and rest even though it is very hot and dry. Even the water that Nya gets with much pain and suffering is muddy and infected with Guinea Worms.

One character named Nya is a girl who walks 12 hours a day to get water for her family. While the other character Salva is a boy who is left in a country surrounded by war. In Salva’s story, his survival became possible through three main factors:his uncle, food and water; the memory of his family.
The book “ A Long Walk to Water” by Linda Sue Park has some Real characters and then there is some fictional characters. It takes place in Southern Sudan a place battered with war. There is this boy who lives in the village named after his grandpa and the war comes to his village he is forced to flee the rest of the story is about his hard and long journey to safety. A personal journey is a journey where you are on a long adventure and you always seem to feel alone or working through things by yourself. These pieces of text evidence both have to do with my thesis because in both he feels so alone.
The Cask of Amontillado is about two men named Montresor and Fortunato. As hate and revenge take over their lives because of wine. Montresor tricks Fortunato by telling him he has Amontillado in his cellar but he doesn't know if it's the real or not and he wants Fortunato to test it. Fortunato's favorite wine, and tells Fortunato that he will have someone elsa to taste the wine.
To sum up, Salva did make it through the stressful journey, Salva has been back and forth visiting his biological family and his forster family that lives in New York.. This journey lead him to the person he is today by inspiring people to not give up on a dream or idea they had. Today Salva is continuing a program for South Sudan “ Water For South Sudan” which builds wells in different villages in South
Southern Sudan is an incredibly difficult place to live, with unbearable hot temperatures and lack of water. Many people in Sudan struggle each year just to stay alive. In Linda Sue Park’s novel, A Long Walk to Water, one character that struggles to make a life for herself in Sudan is Nya. Nya is a young Nuer girl living in a poor village with no plumbing or running water. Despite the harsh environment of Southern Sudan, Nya is able to survive due to her hard work and her family working together.
Perseverance is an important theme in A Long Walk To Water. The first example of Perseverance is when Salva listens to what his uncle says. His uncle uses his full name, and Salva thinks of his family. Uncle tells him to only walk as far as that bush, or clump of rocks. Salva perseveres by thinking of his family.
