Growing up and exceeding limits can be a hard and rough task, but with much perseverance and patience it is possible. In Call of the Wild by Jack London, Buck is faced with many challenges including being taken from his owner and put to work in the hard and grueling Alaskan winter. With much perseverance and focus, he eventually exceeded his limits and became a leader of a wolf pack. In contrast to Buck’s situation, my cousin Gabe was taken from his family and had to do community service. Although he was taken, he was able to decide what to do and was not forced to do anything. Just like Buck, he was taken and put to work. Just like them everyone is faced with these moments. They may not be like what they were faced with, but everyone needs to persevere at sometime in life. His main perseverance event was being taken from his family and forced to do community service. My cousin was taken from his family and had to do community service until he completed over 100 hours of community service he could not compete in wrestling. That meant that he could not practice for finals. Also, he was forced to choose between football and family. He had to either stay in North Carolina for a chance at a scholarship or go back to Oklahoma to live with his grandmother. He chose family and never got a scholarship and that was very hard on him. He did eventually go to nationals in wrestling and placed fourth, but do to his restriction his family was not allowed to attend. Lastly he was made fun of and forced to focus on his goal. With much focus and hard work he was able to keep in shape, and practice for wrestling on his own, while completing his community
