Could you imagine doing over 60,000 heart surgeries? Well that is what I did, hello I am Michael Ellis DeBakey.
I was born September 7th, 1908 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. With my mom Rojeeha, and my dad Shaker. Although I do not know how many, I do have some siblings. Growing up I was a little poor. My family did not have enough money for school so they homeschooled me. My mom and my dad were doctors. They would always be home to teach me about medicine and surgery. Since I was the only one interested about learning I would always be the one staying inside learning while my siblings would go outside and play. The Roller Pump is something that I created. It is special because it helps the patient keep their blood flowing. My second accomplishment is that I completed over 60,000 heart surgeries. That is very important because that means I saved a lot of people's lives, but most of those people were soldiers. And finally my third accomplishment is that I created the very first Artificial Heart. The Artificial Heart is very important. It can help people live if their own heart does not work. It is so important that he received the Presidential National Medal of Science.
I was also famous for a couple reasons. The first reason is that I won many awards like The Presidential National Medal of Science , and The Eleanor Roosevelt Humanities Award. And the second reason is that I am known to be one of the best surgeons in the world. And finally some interesting facts about me are that I went to college in Texas, my parents immigrated from Lebanese before I was born, and finally Dabaghi was my mom's last name until I was born. In conclusion I was remembered for my inventions and saving lives of innocent people. I will die July 11, 1908 at age 99 in Houston,
