Counting Buenos Aires, Argentina, I have lived in five different countries and learned to adapt to five different countries. I despite all the differences, realized that people share the same dreams and aspirations. I was born in Argentina, where both of my parents raised me with all the savings they acquired working full time in the course of their college years prior to my existence. After all the effort and grit my dad put to his work and Bachelor’s degree, he earned an opportunity for a higher job offer in the same company but located in Bogota, Colombia. Each of these challenges taught me the value of family and the unexpected path of life. It impacted what I learned and my perspective in any given situation. When I was told the news of moving to the United States, it seemed like a dream come true. All I focused on was getting limitless One Direction posters and more clothes from justice instead of how difficult this change would be. I remember telling my dad “I don’t need friends dad, I already have many friends in Mexico” after he saw my oblivious self avoiding the fact of the next few months being possibly the hardest of my life. He was right for thinking this, whereas the first day of school will be unforgettable. The first day was terrifying, and that’s an understatement of how I felt. After this day, all I wanted was for my parents to take me to the airport so I could be home again. The only similar things I had with them was my obsession with One Direction and our hair color. I never thought I would belong, nor ever enjoy living here. But life brought surprises as always. Here I am six years later, happily as ever in the best state of the country. In today’s present day, I know this path helped me find my passion for the uniqueness of each culture and the beauty behind each custom. The beauty behind each lesson. The beauty behind its origin. In despite of the difficulty to adjust to a new country, school, and strangers, I grew to find my hidden interests from things I once previously hated. I got a gift of understanding people and easily getting along with them throughout the world. Among my years in the United States, I noticed how many of my close friends had similar personality traits as many of my friends abroad. Also, this flourished my desire to help people with the knowledge I got from each new perspective that became a part of who I am.
