You should also exercise during off season so it will not be so hard to get in shape during the season.

I ran in my middle school’s track team for two years. I ran the mile, one hundred meter dash and triple jump. Out of all the events I participated in I absolutely despised the mile, I hated the aftermath the most. The feeling of my lungs burning, legs aching from the long run and the heavy asthmatic breathes. Although the mile had several cons, I loved the challenge and I was too stubborn to quit.
I will bring many things to the campus. I am very hardworking, determined, and a team player. As a four year member of my high school Cross Country team, I have learned how to work to better myself and how to also work as part of a team. I learned how to push myself and to stretch to reach to my goals as a person, and to help push and encourage my teammates to reach the team’s goals. My friendly and pleasant personality allowed me to succeed in a leadership role as one of the two seniors on our team, working with my teammates.
Here is some information about me. First like track basketball and cross country. Some reasons that I like track and cross country are because I like the feeling that I get when I cross the finish line. I also like to run long distances. Some of the reasons that I like to play basketball is because I love when you make a shot and everyone starts cheering.
My passion for track and field began with a Nike advertisement. At age ten, I opened the newspaper to a two-page spread of the hometown distance running legend Steve Prefontaine overlaid by a paragraph of inspirational copy. It concluded asking, “Where is the Next Pre?” The story of his small town Oregon roots, gutsy racing style, and ambition to be the best resonated with me like nothing ever had before. I told myself I was the next Pre, and then tore off for my first run through the streets of Eugene, Oregon – “Tracktown USA”.
Athletics is ingrained in the human experience and is an integral part of American culture. Because of that, many of my weekends and after school hours have been dedicated to either watching a game or starting one with the kids in the neighborhood. Athletics runs deep in my family. My great uncle was a professional baseball player and my family, including my father, three brothers and a sister, are all very involved with the various team sports. It’s this immersion into various sporting activities that has led me to the understanding that engaging in athletics has a very positive impact in our lives.
High School Track and Field Another experience which impacted my development in adolescence was participating in track and field in high school. This was the first organized sports team I had been a part of since playing tee-ball in kindergarten, so I was undeniably outside of my comfort zone. Almost always decked out head to toe in soccer gear, I’m never surprised when people frequently ask me, “do you do anything other than play soccer?” What I love most about the moments surrounding this question is the quaint little look on their face when I respond “track”. Yes, even a competitive soccer player like myself can find time to enjoy a bit of freelance running, albeit through the below-freezing evenings of January. Much to the chagrin of soccer coaches concerned with the possibility of injuries, I joined the Winter Track team my freshman year. I told myself, and the people around me that I was enduring this grueling sport to stay in shape, a reason I soon realized to be wrong.
Cross-country is the sport of running long distances. I began running cross country in seventh grade in response to peer pressure. My friends at the time were involved and encouraged me to join. The first year was a "test" year, a chance to experiment with a new sport and broaden my athletic knowledge. Cross-country is exceptionally challenging.
