Thanks to my father, I grew up with a passion for sports. Him working as a consultant for the Olympic Games gave my family the opportunity to travel and discover new countries such as Australia, Greece and China, but also experience the unique atmosphere of the Olympic Games. As I became older, my admiration for major sports figures and leaders grew, until came the realization: why not give myself the opportunity to become part of that world? My motivation to stay in my current field lessened by the day. It was when I was given another opportunity to volunteer at the IOC session of August 2015 in KL, Malaysia that I realized that I couldn’t deny what I wanted to do any longer. I had developed a fascination for the Olympic Games and Olympic Committee over the years, a fascination which had deepened with my experience as a volunteer in the Olympic Village during the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. In Malaysia, I worked mostly with the media and helped out with the press conferences, which gave me another insight on sports events. Being in the presence of the people I admired so much, retired professional athletes, current athletes and other figures of sport, and experiencing first-hand the “behind the scenes” of sports events represented the major turning point for me.
