I am originally from Nacogdoches TX but was raised in Greenbrier AR. After completion of high school I joined the Army on October 19, 2004 as a 21D (Engineer Diver). I attended basic training at Fort Lenardwood, MO. Upon completion or basic training I moved into phase I of advanced individual training at Fort Lenardwood and then to phase II at Panama City, FL. My first duty assignment was with the 86th Dive Detachment in December 2005.

My most recent assignment was with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment stationed in Vilseck, Germany. I served five years at that duty location, but in reality, only lived in Germany half that time due to my combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. My wife spent the entire time in Germany, half of which she was alone while I was deployed. Before my enlistment, I was an uneducated software developer.
If I had to choose one activity to pursue, I would go with activity number one: assistant at Drake Dental. I would choose this one primary because it involves helping others. “We rise by lifting others” is a quote that resonates with me as I believe strongly in its message. My job, while it may be insignificant compared to others around the office, involves helping others by making sure everything runs smoothly. Whether it be scheduling an appointment, or simply greeting the patient as they walk in, my job is to ensure that the patient feels satisfied with their dental experience.
I was born on a Navy base in San Diego a little before two in the mourning. I am the youngest with two older sisters Shauna and Cassie. We basically lived two-thirds of our childhood on military bases stationed throughout the United States of America. My father being in the Navy meant we moved a lot I have lived in New Orleans, Pensacola, and San Diego and finally we settled in Tomball, Texas which is thirty minutes away from Houston. I went to a lot of different schools during my childhood an sometimes we would move before the year is up which made it difficult for me in school.
I interviewed my neighbor SFC Vaca for my veterans essay. SFC Vaca join the Army in 1988. He was only eighteen years old and straight out of high school. He did his basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey. After completing his basic training he headed off to AIT, in Ft Eustis, Virginia.
My next duty station was back in the states I was then stationed at Ft. Rucker, Alabama my company later deactivated. Prior to that, I re -enlisted for another four years. I was convinced to take my next duty station in Panama. Ft.
I had no idea what I was doing at the age of 18 of I was ready for a change. My first Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) was an Engineer a 12 Charlie; Bridge Crew member. My first duty station was Korea. My leadership in Korea was phenomenal, the comrade between the soldiers in the platoon was that kind of a relationship between siblings that respected and cared for each other regardless of the misunderstandings. My supervisors respected the privacy of every soldier within the platoon, I was never a witness of a soldiers being bash by a supervisor in front of their peers.
I started attending Fork Union Military Academy in the sixth grade and have stayed throughout my entire high school career. To me, this in itself is a large accomplishment and is something I am very proud of. Every cadet goes through many ups and downs, I know in my seven years I have seen more than my fair share of trouble, but like my father always said, it 's not how you fall, but how you pick yourself back up. I made sure to do everything I could to show those around me, and to prove to myself, that I could pick myself up and accomplish anything. I faced and continue to face many different challenges in my daily life, those that every teenager faces, and also those that have been presented to me because of the kind of environment I placed myself in.
I have high expectations for my life, and plan on making a name out of myself, which requires my financial knowledge to be greater than many. My parents have been a crucial aspect in my life because even though they struggled in the beginning, they turned their mountain of debt and turned it into a beautiful life lesson, and they have taught me a great deal. Budgeting, managing money, and not relying on plastic is, in my opinion, key components in a financially stable environment. Difficulties tend to arise more often than we’d like, but knowing how to deal with this responsibility is a crutial.
