A time when I was faced with a significant challenge, but learned to overcome it was sophomore and junior year in history. History has always seem to be the class I tend to struggle in, no matter who I sit next to or how many notes I take. Sophomore as time when on to second semester I realized I wasn’t doing well; I was procrastinating with homework, not doing well on test, and stated to pay less attention in class. I got a D for the first semester and when I saw that on my report card I knew I had to change something. I realized history need to become a much higher priority.
Through the experience of working as youth leader for freshman connection I have grown as a better leader. To help incoming freshman was incredible experience for me. I joined freshman connection to serve school and defiantly to get knowledge and team building skills out of it, so that it can help me make my college experience better. I think I have achieved all the goals that I wanted to through working as youth leader. Additionally, not only that but also to work on community service project on bullying has really allowed me to serve as teacher helper.
The freshman myth has really opened my eyes, after all I myself am a freshman in college straight out of high school. The fact that 18 million students in a single year apply for college and 34% of those students drop or flunk out of college is a little scary. I have big goals for life I want to be either a Jag for the Army or a Prosecuting Attorney. The freshman myth is what I was thinking my senior year; piece of cake, easy, not going to have to work as hard as I have the last few years of my life. I learned quick that senior year is a lot more stressful then it sounds.

Barnes-Beasley. Session1.Journal As a former military dependent, I moved from one Military base to another. I attended 3 different high schools. Started my freshman year at O’Fallon Township High School in O’Fallon, Illinois.
I was sitting in the Doctor Who covered room, looking at the confusing, empty schedule, I had 30 minutes to fill in my life for the next year. Junior High. I am going into seventh grade. I thought of a younger me, walking through the halls of Webster, thinking, "I 'm a second grader now". But, she has a long way to go.
Entering high school my freshman year, many things were new to me, and I wasn’t sure what I was going to get involved in as a student. The only thing I was sure of was that I was going to play high school soccer. I’d been playing soccer since I was about 8 years old, and finally having the ability to play for the high school I grew up watching was exhilarating. My main goal going into the soccer program was that I wanted to make the varsity soccer team by my senior year in high school- my brother had been a former varsity player, and I greatly wanted to fill his shoes and leave my mark at the school. Throughout my four years in the program, that was my main focus, but I was happy to discover that I was also making friends along the way.
During my freshman year of high school I struggled in many areas of my life including personal, social, and academic. I was in an emotionally abusive relationship, struggling with my self-esteem, and fighting to keep my grades above c 's. Since then I have grown, learned from my experiences and it can all be seen through my transcripts and the friend group I now surround myself with. I came into high school with a boyfriend who I had dated on and off throughout middle school. He was the kind of boy who did not understand the concept of how to treat people, and being so young I did not fully understand the way he was treating me. My parents were not his biggest fans because I often came home upset because of the things he said to me, and the way he treated me.
During my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I was a dancer at a local studio and at Arts and Communications Magnet Academy (ACMA). Dancing was fun for me, I met a lot of great friends and was able to express myself through art. I genuinely loved going to ACMA. But, dancing and attending ACMA led me to meet someone who forced me into situations I never expected to be in. Although I wish I had not ever been forced into those circumstances, there is a silver lining to it.
My math, writing, communication, and observation skills are consistently going to need improvement, these will constantly be present in my career. Likewise, I will continuously need to be up to date with environmental laws and regulations, and public policy. Things I wish I would’ve done differently are participating in more school activities (sports, clubs, etc.) and applied myself to receive higher scores. Other than settling for just B’s and C’s. In addition, I would have liked to taken more honors classes, and gotten more involved in the community through volunteer work.
From a freshman to a senior I grew a lot because in freshman and sophomore years I had always touched that I had to more years then I could catch up all of my credit so I could be able to graduate. But that did happen because in freshman I was a really social person and my grades were really bad I was not doing my homework I would rarely go to class than I had to get into a contracted. Even writing essay it always been hard for me because I would not practice now through junior and senior years I have been during I really improve a lot because now I go to my classes every day do all of my homework I practice all of my essays. And even sometimes I try to get involved with school like going a sport and it allows me always having a good Gpa so I could be able to play the sport.
When i got to high school i didn 't hang out with any of my old friends from elementary school or middle school. So i was lonely and spent my time in the library reading and by myself. The only time i would talk was if i knew some one in my class and then after class we wouldn 't say anything to each other. One day in my P.E. class I started talking with these group of girls because there was no boys in our class . The one girl that was kinda the leader of the group was your average snobby blond, invited me to hang out with her and her other friends at there tree at lunch.
I have been making A’s and B’s since elementary school. When I came into high school, I thought getting those grades would be challenging, especially since I would be taking honors and AP classes. Even though, it was a challenge for me, I managed to continue my honor roll streak. In my junior year I was able to make all A’s both semesters. Getting all A’s was a huge success for me, since I had worked hard both semester to keep my grades up.
When everyone says High school goes by fast they’re not lying at all. Junior year was big for me at both school and outside of school. I was hired at Weedman lawncare where i learned about real estate and how to stay warm walking around in the cold. Everyday during my lunch period me and a couple of friends would help and play with the special needs children in the gym. I ran cross-country and track my junior year.
The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
