Personal Narrative: A Soccer Team's Success

“In a final championship game, we have to demonstrate all of our potential. Demonstrate to everyone that you guys gave all of your effort. Do not be the team that blew the championship game last season by losing 4-0. A final should always be a close and tough game, but I truly believe you guys will come out on top as champions of the league.” Those were the last words from my coach before the referee blew the whistle for the two teams to join in the middle. I felt my palms create rivers from sweat. My heart was pounding like a mad ape. I had never felt so nervous in my life, but I was well prepared. I even missed out on the biggest party of the year the night before so I could be well rested. I blew a kiss to my parents, I got on my knees and I asked God to lead us to victory and thanked him for this blissful opportunity.

I am pretty sure it worked because a minute later I had a great shot on goal but the goal keeper saved it. The save threw him off position, my teammate got the ball of the rebound and scored the first goal. The celebration that took place was the greatest joy. Everyone was hugging each other and giving each other compliments. We had not won just yet but it was probably the best amazing feeling we had all felt. With only ten minutes left we all knew it was time to park the bus and defend our territory. Those ten minutes felt like an eternity, but when the referee finally blew the whistle to end the game, it felt like I had hit the jackpot and won the lottery. I overfilled with joy and satisfaction. I can now visualize that dedication and motivation is what dreams are made of. It is what makes champions, and I am one happy champion with three championship cups won this year. This cup in particular was the most important one for me because it was truly the hardest one to
