There I laid on the hard and rigid mattress, in a room so cold and damp that you could hear water dripping continuously out of the battered and rusty pipe. As the young guard approached my cell, slightly vigorously threw a ration through my cell hatch.
“время есть! (Time to eat!)” lilted the guard. Rations are military made for soldiers on the battlefield and are specially made foods inside the ration pack that can last for days on end. The thing is, the contents inside are abominable, sickening, loathsome tasting foods out there, but they get the job done. Inside the package were four cans, two of them cylinder and two of them cube shaped, and one apple. Daniel, if you are listening to this message, you are in a cabin forty miles south of Purovsk. I had laced the apple with a knockout poison and have moved you to this location. Now here’s the truth. I had never officially defected to the Soviet Union, it was heavily planned by the CIA. They made it so I could obtain the film more easily, they told me I had to kill you, with my own hands. They thought of you as a weaker link, they wanted me to dispose of you. It was then I realized, that it doesn’t matter anymore. That we have reached this level, this level where we think as humans not as people, but as tools. Politics have taken over my life, and my choices. When in the end, it’s just different way of thinking, but at the same time, it's the same way of thinking. I was already dead, my life had been entirely devoted to this. We have been forced to do this, so the way I got in, i’m going to get out to. I managed to obtain the film, and burned it, restoring power to both nations. It’s only minutes until the colonel finds out. The United States would certainly would not take back either of us. More or less we would be banished from both nations. I realized what’s right and what’s wrong with this world, and this war. I hope you have to Daniel. I’ve taken you to this cabin so that you would not have to die a painful death, but you’ll probably die anyway. They probably laced the rations with ricin acting as a fail safe. Countries and nations ideologies don’t matter anymore. What really does matter, is how we see ourselves, our morality. With that, I say goodbye to you.” concluded
