NBA vs NBA Who could forget the late great Chicago Bulls rivalry with the physical Detroit Piston’s, also known as the Bad Boys? How about the New York Knicks and Miami Heat never-ending hate rivalry. There were many rivalries, every team had that one opponent that would cause a basketball game to turn into a royal rumble. How could you forget the fundamentally sound seven footers, who could embarrass you with a great low post move or step back and knock down a fifteen foot jumper? Basketball was about X’s and O’s and flawless execution. Every star player was competitive. Many had developed friendships with other star players off the court, but on the court they became instant enemies. They wanted to compete against one another for bragging rights, what’s not to love about that. Challenging one another also made the league more balanced and exciting to watch. If you were born after the new millennium, there’s a strong possibility that you may not agree with what I’m about to discuss. Growing up as a fanatic sports fan, basketball was my favorite to watch. I enjoyed the heart and hustle mentality and the hardnose defense displayed by every individual on the court. How this could be when the talent level is sub-par, I’ll tell you how. The rules are bent and tweaked to improve scoring and violations are seldom called. Today’s league would do whatever it takes to generate revenue, instead of protecting the integrity of game like the association. When I do decide to watch a televised actor’s game, which is not often, it only clarifies my disgust for this new era.
