Big Decision
After going through a little time out for my knee, it was finally time for me to get back on the court. I was so happy, that I felt like a little kid in the candy store. It was the start of a big year because junior year is the year that colleges start looking at players. I knew that it was my time to step on that court and show everyone what a short basketball player like me could be capable of. I could feel the butterflies flying in stomach when I was tying my shoes and putting on my practice jersey. Once I walked inside, I knew I was close. All you smell was a stinky, sweaty stitch coming from the boy’s football locker room. I walked into the athletic trainer’s office and I was the only one in there besides him. I went sit on the table where Coach Tommy, the athletic trainer, could examine my knee. I remember the way he looked at me and the exact words he said to me like it was yesterday. After all the previous injuries I had and this one, Coach Tommy looked at me and ask, “Josie, you know what this all means right?” Hearing them words come out his body, it was like my whole world was going down. My whole body just gave out and I broke down. I couldn’t even find words to say because the thing I was hoping was never going to happen, was about to happen. I sat in his office for two long hours just hearing the clock tick, crying my eyes out, aggravating him to about something else to do that would take the pain away and would make it where I wouldn’t have to have surgery.
