Surreptitiously and quietly, the posted sentries at the main entrance leading to the Dweller city of New Hope maintained their duties guarding it, keeping watch over any potential threats that may arise from beyond the entrance at any time. From the balcony that stood directly above the steel gates of the main entrance, the Dweller city guard had managed to place a small barrier of sandbags with an additional sentry gun turret, consisting of twin mounted MG42 machine guns. For my week 2 24-hour recall I interviewed my husband E.S. During a conversation held with E. Salcedo (E. Salcedo, oral communication, September 2015) I was able to gather that he is a 42-year-old male Mexican American. He currently is working with machinery and doing maintenance work at different power plants. Furthermore, E.S. job requires heavy lifting and going up and down stairs. He recently started running and exercising three times a week.
LA Spirit! While i have so many things i’m passionate about the thing that comes to me the most is my city. Los Angeles has been so good to me in the concept of sports. As a young kid growing up in South Central, all i would think about was what LA team was being broadcasted live. This was around 2005 so you could imagine what was around at the time.
I am taking away a lot of new information from my observations and time I have spent with the ELL students. I witnessed the struggled that these students sometimes have to deal with something as simple as copying a sentences off the board and keeping up with the rest of the class. It takes them twice as long, because they have to look at each word and each word multiple times to copy it correctly. I learned how much more work it is to teach ELL students and how much more effort you as a teacher have to put into these students, but also how much more effort the students themselves have to put into their work. I learned you have to be patient and calm with ELL students, because they need that from their educators, ELL students need to surround
As an avid fan of the manipulation of language, double meanings of words have always interested me. “Brilliance” with its multifaceted denotations is my favorite word because it accurately describes the essence of who I am. In one aspect, brilliance means “exceptional talent and intelligence”. I am hard working; I achieve high grades in school and use the wisdom I gain in daily experiences. As a leader, I have to use my insightfulness often to think of quick and efficient ways to lead.
In the journal article The Intersection of Mathematics and Language in the Post-Secondary Environment: Implications for English Language learners the authors describe the challenges English Language Learners (ELLs) face in mathematics courses at a post-secondary level. In addition, they determined four key features of the English language that can hinder ELLs. They determined that these 4 aspects of language can greatly influence how ELLs students perform on math examinations (Choi, Milburn, Reynolds, Marcoccia, Silva, & Panag, 2013, p.73). Furthermore, this article conducts an assessment to determine if performance on a math exam is related to English language proficiency. I don’t normally go out to after school events but I got an intvition for a award night. but there was a plan in changing the awhereness of my autism its lack there of. I played it like who would give me something, who knows ‘me’ and not autism. the oddest thing is there was a line where my mother had sign her name and to be sent back.
I am a leader because I have learned from my past experiences. DECA is a national marketing organization were you compete in marketing scenarios and learn about networking. Through this club I found myself wanting to break out of my shell and get involved in the world business. My teacher suggested that I compete, so she signed me up for the district competition, I was hesitant to step beyond the barrier of my comfort zone. I had gotten dressed up in a suit and tie, and not knowing anyone or what to expect, we then proceeded to the competition.
We were fortunate to pass the class, however we felt that we could have learned so much more. Our teacher was not a great mentor and would not consider changing their teaching method. I have had tough hope once, I had to move to a different state and start to get used to the new place. Moving was hard and took a long time to move everything to our new house. My new house was hard to get used to because it was different and I wasn 't used to it which made it hard to sleep and I had to leave my friends behind and I would have to find new friends. Making new friends was hard because I would be alone until I found new friends and I would have no one to talk to so I would be very quiet. Usually I would always be talking to a friend and I am only social with friends.
# The Forge *Challenges make you stronger! * I came across this amazing tool when I was traveling across my state by bike. No way I could afford to stay in hotels each day, so I had to sleep outside or knock on the doors of random people to sleep in their yards (stressful and humbling). Between the physical exhaustion, the dam bugs, and having to face my fear of talking to strangers, it was a challenge, no doubt.
As a kid I always have loved to write; from short stories about mythical beasts and strange lands, to research papers about my favorite animal. My love for reading and writing came from my Dad, who has so many books we have a library room in the house. From the earliest I can remember, my Dad read to me every night, and it all started with Goodnight Moon by Margret Brown. In the story, the character says “Goodnight..” to everything was introduced earlier, and when I was little, I would walk around and say goodbye to everything I came in contact with, “Goodbye milk at Safeway”, “Goodbye tree”. Certain stories that I read or have been read to me, have stuck with me and have affected twenty years of decision making and have helped tune my moral
To be completely honest I hated going to that class. The first couple of weeks in that class were a struggle, but then my teacher, Mr. Ballstaedt started to help me. If I was struggling on the wheel or having trouble with the clay Mr. Ballstaedt would come over and get me through it. He would explain to me what I was doing wrong and then he would show me the correct way to do it.
