There is an old saying and that is that “Knowledge is power”, something I usually heard multiple times a year during my days as a student. From elementary school to high school, my teachers emphasized how important education was. Being educated was what would set a person up for their future. Montclair State University is well known for its education program, especially its development of teachers. The university has a blueprint for what makes a teacher great, accomplished by setting standards. One aspect of their goal is to prepare teachers by developing their character and mindset to succeed. Their priority it to educate and be sure that students are content in the classroom. Unfortunately, some students are not as lucky when it comes to their education. There may be difficulties for them to get as good an education as another student in a different school district, whether it is in the same state or not. My teachers were great when it came to educating every student in the classroom; no child was excluded from activities. It was their enthusiasm and dedication to the students that put me in the position where I am today. Both were math classes and many of the students, including myself usually did not understand the material. We brought up that it was difficult, although the teacher continued to teach as if nothing was wrong with her method. She just told us that there was tutoring available or to just practice until we do understand the math problems. Rather than trying to change her teaching style, she continued to teach the way she did, as the majority of the class struggled. My other classmates were upset that it was even brought up with an administrator. We were fortunate to pass the class, however we felt that we could have learned so much more. Our teacher was not a great mentor and would not consider changing their teaching method. This experience did provide me with knowledge on what not to do. I learned that I should consider the opinions of students when I become a teacher if there are any questions or concerns on their
