The overall goal is for all students to be taken care of while in the classroom and to gain the knowledge that they need in order to be successful in life. My goal is to become a teacher and I will continue to work for the goal that my ancestors created many years ago. Every student deserves to be able to walk out of the classroom having learned how to become a responsible citizen that can change the world. In early Arkansas education, teachers taught in small one-room schoolhouses, instructed many age groups of kids, worked in unideal conditions, and taught all of the basics in the “Three R’s”. All of these challenges were to make sure that their students had an education.
A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
I am currently teaching at Swainston Middle School in North Las Vegas. Our student population is very diverse, including English Language Learners (ELLs). During this time as a teacher, I have served students with different language needs. It has been my goal to engage ELL students in my lessons as every other student. It is my opinion that as teachers we are all language teachers.
What do you currently teach and where? I am a December graduate of the University of Charleston. I graduated magna cum laude. After graduation I began substituting. I substituted at a variety of schools in Kanawha County in a variety of grades.
I know that at times my strategies will not go as I plan them to go but I know that with my support system and the effort I put into my schooling, I will succeed. I believe that every child deserves to have access to quality education. Getting to know each student is a great way to promote an inclusive environment and get to know their cultural backgrounds. Having a safe and welcoming environment will play an important role that I will implement when I have my classroom.
As a teacher, I believe in building relationships based on students’ needs, strengths, and cultural differences. All of my students learn best when they are part of a community, everyone feels accepted, and individuality is encouraged. I plan to incorporate these same ideas when embarking on my new role as a supervisor. Building a relationship with each of my staff members will allow them to feel empowered and lead to a cooperative teaching and learning environment. In turn, this will foster an active learning community.
1. It is evident in today's school systems that the achievement gap, indeed, is an issue. But, do not be discouraged, there is good news. We as teachers have the power to change this and to help all of our students succeed, regardless of any preconceived notions about their low socioeconomic status or racial minorities. First and foremost, all students are capable of learning, each and everyone of them.
I believe that all students are capable of learning and that it is the role of the teacher to ensure that each student, no matter their academic level, succeeds in the classroom environment. To achieve this goal, each student must be presented an educational environment where they are able to grow mentally, socially, and emotionally. Because each student is unique, I will assist each in developing their own learning styles. As a future elementary level educator, I believe that there are four essential elements that I must take a stand on. (1) The true purpose of school.
However, our primary focus extends beyond the mere retention of information concerning specific subject matter from our students. Each educator has the opportunity to influence the students in their growth academically and ethically which can exceed the boundaries of the classroom. We can facilitate personal development, providing each student with the tools necessary to excel in society. Ultimately, we should seek to cultivate a mindset within our students, through engaging classroom experiences, inspiring each learner to discover what intrinsically motivates them while encouraging the students to develop their own set of goals and interest within and beyond the classroom.
When a teacher gets his or her first classroom there are many things they will want to incorporate including book nooks, teacher workspace, student workspace, etc. However, it is not always easy for them to find space for everything they want with what they are given. Some obstacles include door placement, windows, and built-in furniture. Finding room for what a teacher wants in their classroom and incorporating what is given to them can be tricky but it is something all teachers have to do at least once in their career. There are also many important details that teachers must think about when designing their classroom such as accessibility, distractions, and whether or not the teacher can see all of the students all of the time.
Solving the teaching problem lies in granting teachers the ability to teach effectively and receive incentives that make their job worth having. The profession is not an easy one and comes with plenty of responsibility and should be treated as such. However, is the plan of giving teachers better incentives reasonable? I asked a family member, my step-mother, what she thought about the solution of setting a higher standards for teachers and creating more incentives for the profession? After going through some of the potential solutions to the problem and how the profession could be transformed into something more and provide students with a better education system she agreed with the overall concept.
As a future Biology teacher I hope to inspire my students to be curious about the world around them, to apply what they learn in and outside the classroom, and to continually challenge themselves to explore and learn more. This is why I have decided that when I start teaching I will maintain an interactive classroom. Furthermore, I believe that all teachers should teach through active experimentation; this can allow all the students to learn through their own experience. Also, the core curriculum use in schools should be academic rigorous so that all students can be challenged, however in their own level of capacity.
A child struggles with his math homework and sits alone, quietly whispering to himself, “I don’t get it.” He could not bear to ask one of his classmates for help. “What would they think?” he wonders. The child cannot help but stare at the blank page with one single equation, as he contemplates whether he should give up or not.
People such as talk show host Oprah Winfrey identifies how significant education is for boys and girls: she respects teachers all over the place as unsung heroes, and has been sponsoring the developing of schools in Africa since she trusts that knowledge and education empower individuals to produce a more fruitful life (Parkay, Becoming a Teacher, 2016).In conclusion, the likelihood to encourage another human being is not a chance it is a big challenge. There are many educators that have not been able to accept this test, and it needs to be different. There are so many Students that go to school for the reason that they are forced to. Numerous times staying in school and earning is not their top importance, but then again, the teacher’s occupation is to teach the students. Students are always trying to learn.
The three keys can help you become a successful teacher because they all help you maintain order and balance in your classroom and in your life. The first key, Be Reasonable, will help many teachers to not be disappointed when their first experiences in the classroom do not match up to their idealized version of teaching. With this in mind, they can give themselves and their classes the space to learn from their mistakes. The second key, Organize Your Life, is essential because being organized not only sets a good example for students, but because being prepared will always be better than not being prepared. This way, a teacher can start each day with a plan and end it by making notes on what worked and what did not.
