Remembering The War It was the year 1918 and the war was almost over and me and my family were struggling for money. We didn’t have a lot to live off of. There were only a few jobs in washington county and two of them are farming and factory work. Although there are only two factories. Most of us do farm work because that is what we know to most. Everyone knew that we needed more jobs and money. We need more jobs because the others pay so little. We decided to make request to the mayor to give us more jobs. Now that we are requesting more jobs we hope that they get approved so we will make more money. We need all the money we can get for food and supplies for the winter. While she was working at the factory we were doing all the farm work we would make sure the chickens are fed and check on the crops. The farm work hard but the freezing cold air made it worse. The crops were dying we knew we wouldn't have a lot of food for the winter. With only a limited supply we would not be eating much during the winter. Today are mother got paid she got paid ten dollars which isn't enough for all the supplies and food we need. This is why we need work that pays more money and also most people can not afford most of the things they need. If the war hadn't started we would have everything we need to live off of. But the soldiers will be home soon so hopefully we will have more money and work by then, which will be great. The everything will go back to the way it was before the war and we all will be happy. Tomorrow will be the day that we find out about the new jobs and if we are going to get them or not. Everyone is hoping that we will so that we can finally afford everything that we need, and also have a place for everyone to work. Especially the soldiers when they get back from fighting in Europe. The men might see this place a little different and they might think that they are in the wrong town. Lets just hope and pray that we can get work and that the soldiers come home
