I, Dan McWilliams, woke up at 5:45 to go to work for the FDNY. It was sunny day with clear skies, little did I know the horrors of the day to come. I got to work at 6:45, we were at the station for about 2 hours. Next thing we know every fire station in New York is being called to the twin towers because of an apparent plane crash. It was 8:46 the first plane hit the North Tower, when we arrived it was chaos.
The Mackinac Express “I’m so bored, Dad.” I groaned. I slumped against the boathouse wall. Even though I typically hate boats, I vividly recall being so irritated that the ferry hadn’t come yet. I was at Star Line 's boathouse on Mackinac Island, and we had been waiting for at least 20 minutes for a ferry.
There have been a few times in my life that stood out to me, one of them being my first trip to Darien Lake. It was the end of the 8th grade, having not gone to DC like most, I was able to go to wonderful Darien Lake. From the beginning of the day, maybe even the night before I had set one goal for myself; to ride the tallest roller coaster there. With that in mind, let me get to the actual story.
Every few years since I was five my grandparents would take my sister and me to a new place, whether to just visit with relatives or to see something new. A few years back, my sister and I went with them to Minnesota to visit some of my grandpa’s relatives. On the way there, we stopped in Chicago to visit his brother. While we were there, we visited the Natural History Museum and went to the Chicago Aquarium.
A few weeks ago, I hit the surface of a lake while going forty miles per hour. It all started when we made the one and a half hour trip up to Bartlett lake. When we arrived, we promptly proceeded to unload everything from the small trailer. The trailer felt like it was two hundred feet long because unloading took forever. We then searched for flashlights and lanterns so we could see in the dark.
Our family usually goes to WI Dells every year in February. We got to the dells because my dad has a conference that goes on. Usually, when we go to the dells we swim most of the time. My favorite ride is the Master Blaster. I like that slide because it 's fast and it has a drop in the beginning.
I have grown as an academic student in college and career readiness, as displayed through my English 101 class. This was my third college class on the campus of Los Angeles Mission College, so I thought I was prepared and ready. Yet in my English 101 class I had to come up with my own prompts for my essays and merely came into class to listen to lectures on the basics of English. This was the first class that the teacher did not give me the rules on what to do for the assignment, I had to come up with it myself. Professor Diaz-Cooper did not hand out How-To papers or grading rubrics - she expected us to know and acquire all this information on our own.
“Dad, can we, can we, can we?” that is what my brother and I have been asking our dad for the past two days that our family has been the lake house. I’m not just talking about my parents and my brother and I, I mean the whole Sauer family, Uncle Craig, Uncle Shane, Grandma, Grandpa, our cousins Lexine, Cassidy, and molly. Yeah, the whole Sauer family, but that’s not important.
My body cried like a newborn babe, afraid in an unfamiliar place. Immediately, my fresh eyes were greeted by waves of black hair, friendly smiles, and the Japanese language. I had arrived in Japan. I did not know the language or the customs, but I dove right into the dark pool. I was determined not to let the unknown drown me.
One day I went to a lake with my family they where having a corn hole tournament, chili cook off, and a car show, the first people that me and my mom played where Blade and Brandon me and my mom lost after we lost I went over to the chili cook off and tasted some. My favorite was a guy who had a really hot chili. then I went to a car auction my favorite car was a really nice muscle car It was black with with a white stripe going down the hood.

It seems the older I get, the less assurance I have of anything. And believe me, when I was younger, I had nothing but assurance. Still, that‘s not too surprising considering a large portion of my education was spent in a private religious school, and anyone that has been involved with “faith based education” knows there’s little room for doubt. I mean it‘s not called faith based for nothing! I was being taught absolute truths, there was little room for scientific inquiry.
Entering for the first time in a summer class can be quite frightening. This is what happened to me today. I had no idea we were going to have a new instructor then the one that I was assigned to. I knew entering this course would be challenging do with the class being five weeks long. As I walked in I sat down, and met two new people named Stephanie Corona and Tristan Yahn.
I am from the summer vacations at Gun Lake I’m from long days out on the water. Waking up early, to either go fishing, or wakeboarding. Skimming across the water at exactly 17.8 miles per hour. Hitting the wake just right, to go flying into the air. Taking the old fishing boat to the secret dropoff nearly nobody knows about.
This early in the semester, you’d never expect people soliciting for meal swipes. But TDR is seeming more and more unpredictable these days. Last week my roommate Andreas and I approached the entrance when two girls asked us to swipe them in. Had they asked freshmen year when we had more swipes than a Tinder-addict, we would have said yes for sure.
