Mr.Prokes understood me. He knew what i wanted to do with my life, when I wanted to do it and how I was gonna do it. I never would 've thought that I would leave him the first year I met him. All though, he emailed my mother saying: "Dear Jeri Johnson, Your son this year had a rough year. Myself and Mr.Pargaen tried to make it better, but this class needs serious help.
During our senior year, Karl left a school dance with a girl and that decision led to him to becoming a teen father. Karl married her, bought a house in the same zip code that our families lived, and had three more sons. Although I was ranked in the top 5% of our graduating class, my guidance counselor recommended secretarial school over attending The University of Texas as it was the more realistic choice. Against his advice and with little support from my family and friends, I left behind all that I knew and never once looked back with
Goal Number One I didn’t know it yet, but the way I viewed the game of lacrosse was about to change drastically. It was a normal day for me. I was in eighth grade, and I was getting ready for school.
But, when my father finds out that we 're leaving for New York, he decided to come with us. He tried to do the same here with my mother, but my brothers did not let him, they confronted him. That’s when everything started changing with him. It was too late for us, the damage was already done. I hold anger, I was afraid to communicate with others, low self-esteem, and I couldn’t concentrate in school.
My friends no longer respected me, I had disappointed my family and had let myself go. Two weeks after he had left school, I had found out that I was deceived. I spent weeks crying for hours over someone who should have never been worth a hello. Little by little I gained strength, put away my copies of Dear John and The Notebook, cleaned up the tissues and picked my life back up. Talking to my teachers I worked out ways to raise my grades and get my life back on track.
Upon my return, I expected to resume going to the school’s campus and only be half online. This wasn’t what happened, however. “We live too far away now. I can’t drive you so far every day.” My mom had said when I asked her about my returning to school.
Hidden Messages, Long-term Results I have always been an animal lover. Although my parents were, and still are, allergic to fur, I had a farm across the road from my house and many neighbors with animals. As a sassy four-year old, I had the mentality of “finders-keepers, loser-weepers” or “if I spot your animal and you're not nearby, consider it mine.” I liked to call it permanently borrowing, but others called it stealing. Starting as a young girl, I would test my abilities and creativity to see how many animals it would take until my mom went ballistic, and how many new hiding spaces I could find.
There are so many people around me facing relationship and marriage issues. I grew up in a single mother household; I haven’t seen a lot of successful marriages in my family. This topic “The Healing Relationship” interested me because I would like to have a successful marriage one day and I have experienced heart break. I believe that counseling is necceassry in relationships because people do struggle with trust issues, couples growing apart and partners fail to communicate their needs. Healing is only way a person to grows, looks past the situation and move on to creating change in their environment.
Simple Messages, Life-time Results Growing up in a neighborhood with a farm across the street and parents allergic to fur, of course all animal lovers would think the same thing, just permanently borrow (steal) the animals and bring them home. Starting as a young girl, I would test my abilities and creativity to see how many animals it would take until my mom completely lost it, and how many hiding spaces I could find. (hiding spaces included: dryer, coolers, under sinks, etc) I started off with just the farm animals, then advanced in the neighbors hamsters or cats, which they were not too thrilled about about, enough to the point where I was banned from their house. Although I thought I was relieving a burden off their shoulders
“WHAT THE HELL?? ” I hear my mom yell from my bedroom for the hundredth time this year. With my parents recently divorced, my brother and I had learned to just stay in our bedroom when mom gets a call from our dad. I was getting really sick of hearing about the divorce and ready to just move on, I was supposed to be in college right now
Chris Pine had once said “The only thing you sometimes have control over is perspective. You don't have control over your situation. But you have a choice about how you view it.” In keeping a positive perspective, six key concepts must be looked at. These concepts are vital in learning and will carry over to everyday life as an adult.
Joining the emotional dots An area that I feel I need to develop is my emotional intelligence, not just to benefit my organisations in future but also my response to changes, events and the world around me. When reflecting and discovering my social anxiety I also realised I suffer heavily from cognitive distortions, when something goes wrong either at work or in day to day life I will mentally jump to the worst possible conclusion no matter how seemingly small the problem is. It’s something that I am treating as a priority to work on as it causes me a lot of unnecessary distress and floods my head with negativity in times when I need to be thinking the most clearly.
Starting over Starting over might be easy when you are young, but if you are middle age and already have a stable and calm life, it is very hard to start over. My family and I moved from Egypt to The US three years ago, so we had to start from scratch. We found systems in the US are different from my country. After we found a good residence, our concern was finding employment. I was a science teacher in my country, so I tried to find a job in the educational field, but there were a lot of requirements to get a job as a teacher.
The Pillars of Success can be meant in many ways to many different kinds of people, but to an individual, such as me who is in currently, a junior in High School is meant through respect, responsibility, leadership, and friendship. These 4 simple words are the pillars of success to become a successful person when graduating high school. As a high schooler, being respectful to not only to one’s peers, but also one’s teachers, janitors, parents, principal or band director is essential not only in high school but in life in general. In my perspective being respectful to everyone around one regardless of authority is more important than any grade one scores on a test or assignment because scoring a number cannot withstand the way one makes their peers feel. Responsibility is another important pillar for countless high schoolers like me because high school is the time when we make decisions that will affect us for a long time to come and it is
I used to think that I knew everything and I did not need anybody else's advice. Now I understand that getting advice from other people is better than not listening to them talk. Getting advice from other parents, friends, and teachers is helpful because they are speaking from experience, can get more than one opinion, and there is more to life than a person may think of it. Firstly, these parents, teachers, and other students may have gone through this situation that another person is in and they will be able to tell what they did when they went through that.
