Personal Narrative: The Six Key Concepts

Chris Pine had once said “The only thing you sometimes have control over is perspective. You don't have control over your situation. But you have a choice about how you view it.” In keeping a positive perspective, six key concepts must be looked at. These concepts are vital in learning and will carry over to everyday life as an adult. These concepts include the learning and performance zone, fixed and growth mindsets, grit, multitasking, reactive reasoning, and remember what is understood. The first concept is about the learning and performance zone. The learning zone is dedicated to practicing, challenging ourselves, and learning from the mistakes we make so as to better understand what is at hand. This is be able to persevere, work hard, never giving up, and an attitude to overcome obstacles or situations. I thought I worked hard this quarter but not putting a lot of extra effort. I would say that the first semester was about a three and I would like the second semester to be at a five. I can do this by continuing to work on having a growth mindset and persevering. The next concept is multitasking. Here, people who think they are good at doing two things at once usually are not as good as they think they are. I definitely try to multitask. Especially when doing my homework, I will also try to do something else like listen to music or watch television. I rate myself as a one for the first semester but I would like to at least be average at a three next semester. I can do this by turning off the distractions while doing homework and doing one thing at a time. The fifth concept is about reactive reasoning. This is when we become lazy and do not want to truly think a problem over. Instead, we choose an answer that seems obvious but is not actually correct. Full effort is not put in but we think it should be enough. I rate myself at a two because I do see myself doing this from time to time. Hopefully I can get this to be a five by the end of the year through checking my work to asking myself if how I got the answer makes logical
