Personal Narrative: How Brown Ledge Changed My Life

I believe what one chooses to do with their extracurricular time says a lot about that person. For myself, I have spent most summers growing up at an all girl camp called Brown Ledge. It was my happy place for six consecutive summers. Thinking about it comforts me, and reminds me of what is most important. Brown Ledge is where I learned to live with individuals of all backgrounds. It Is the place that shaped me into the outgoing, motivated, confident, woman I am today.

The day leading up to my first move-in felt like the longest twenty-four hours of my life. When the morning came, I eagerly put my trunk and bags into our Golden Passat and flipped through my checklist. Then, I fastened my seatbelt and, before I knew it my family and I were driving by the Brown Ledge sign, past the tennis courts, the riding rings, and up to the drop off spot. I was greeted by waves of cheerful, charismatic individuals - many who I knew I wanted to be just like.

I was repeatedly told that the next four weeks would go by in a heartbeat so, I should try every activity I might enjoy and not waste time thinking of home. It is through my time at Brown Ledge that I know I want to be an Entrepreneur. I want to work with all kinds of people from all around the World - just like I did at camp. I have learned that I enjoy taking risks, being creative and, taking on tougher challenges than most people I know would ever consider. I am excited to bring with me what I have learned throughout my past six summers and use it in the next chapter of my life. I would not have such determination and confidence if it not for my summers spent at Brown
