Athletes Closest Thing to Death Former MVP in the NBA, Derrick Rose, jumps his into the air to contest a shot. He comes down hard and collapses on the gym court as the crowd watches the NBA’s finest point guard suffering in agony they are all quiet waiting for him to hop up and continue to play. Unfortunately that 's not the case, and never is with a torn ligament. He was escorted off the court and sent to the hospital where his career fell off a cliff and he has never been even close to as good as he was before his injury. Ligament tears in the knee are one of the worst sports injuries to obtain when as an athlete because they can never go back to how the ligament was to begin with.
Sophomore year I was playing at a soccer tournament with my old team. I was playing a great game even though the score was not reflecting my hard work. Towards the end of the game I jumped up caught the ball landed, my body went one way and my legs went the other, then I fell to the ground. Everyone around me had heard a pop, I knew it was my ACL. From this moment in my soccer career I knew I needed to be determined and to be focused on my recovery in order to get back out there.
Also, it teaches people that they might have to risk a little injury to do something exciting and worth
My ACL Tear Journey At The Hospital A quick turn on a soccer field led me to the worst experience in my life. A while back in my sophomore year I tore my ACL while I was practicing for my first soccer game of the school year. I made a quick turn without positioning my feet correctly on the ground. I thought that I broke my knee, but I never knew that after that day I would have experienced the worst day a month after on February 15th.
The cowboy way of life has been around the United States of America for a long time and has grown to even be a competitive sport, not only a lifestyle. There is one very difficult section of the sport in particular that comes along with being a cowboy, bull riding. While risking one’s own health, a cowboy is to mount a bull and ride it for eight full seconds; all while being graded by judges and receiving fifty points from the bull’s performance and fifty points from his own performance. The Ride is an effective documentary for an audience of young college students with little knowledge of the sport of bull riding that are looking to learn more about it. One aspect of The Ride that young college students, with little knowledge of the bull riding sport, would enjoy is the relatable personal stories.
Athletes take the risk of getting injured not just for a couple of months but for the rest of their lives’, some athlete will not be able to afford the medication that they need in the future to cope with their injuries. Athletes are also held at a higher standard in the publics eye, they are being watch every second of every day whether it be by the general public or by the media. So Athletes sacrifice their own personal life to keep the public happy and keep kids encouraged to do the right
That is one reason why, because that sport could result in very bad injuries and could change your future with that sport or with any dangerous sport very quick. ABC news Terry Moran stated that “There is a hidden cost to playing the game, and concerns about the long term effects of invisible brain damage. There are a lot of children that get hurt and people and parents think that they need a warning to expect injuries or else they wouldn't
Now I wanted to help him make the right choice — if only I knew what that was.” (Buckley, pg 1). This shows that injuries can be crucial of what happens and it can be quite scary of what will happen from the example of the concussion to a 10 year old 's life which can turn around in a split second from just getting a blow to the head from a simple sport. In addition the findings also showed that injured athletes began specializing in one sport at an average age younger than 12 years. In addition, nearly two-thirds of these athletes in highly specialized sports sustained a repeat injury.
No other sport has more deaths and injuries than that of bull riding. One might say that football is dangerous because of the risk of concussion or motocross racing is risky due to the stunts they must perform, but bull riding is a risk for the cowboy’s life every time he gets on a bull in the chute. No other sport requires an eight second match up with a two thousand pound animal that could trample and severely injure or even kill the contestant (Equestrian Moments, 2014, May 20). There is no argument that bull riding is the most dangerous sport there is.
Although sports are a higher cause of concussions they are not the only cause of concussions. Many injuries leading to concussions that could lead to CTE happen in the workplace. “A workplace head injury is one of the most serious injuries in the workplace” (Calisi). One of the most common accidents are from falling objects. Some occupations with the highest risks of falling objects are construction workers, loading dock workers, delivery personnel, or factory workers.
Before receiving this assignment I was living the dream. I was playing college basketball and living with two of my best friends and teammates. The night before we were first informed about the M.I.R.R.O.R. assignment I injured my knee for the third time, and my life completely turned upside down. I have been forced to move back in with my parents in Ankeny and have needed help with almost every daily task of my life. This reflection on my inner responses comes during a month-long period where my environment has drastically changed, and will include insight from my mother who has been helping me every step of the way.
The idea of extreme sports has changed drastically over the years, going from skateboarding in the streets to jumping out of planes with nothing but a parachute to soften your landing. These extreme sports have many advantages for kids who participate in it such as health benefits, psychological benefits, and opportunities to participate in a sport they can enjoy individually. The dangers do still exist, but one can become hurt while participating in any sport so those dangers are not relevant, therefore pros outweigh cons and kids should be able to participate in extreme sports. Kids who participate in extreme sports have an opportunity to compete in a sport they enjoy rather than engaging in team sports that involve being dependent on others.
Coming from the most us who love the sport, it’s not the worry of getting hurt that you mainly
