Abraham Lincoln, the president at the time was a very enthusiastic and smart political man, he was able to gain all the northern state's loyalty and trust which offered support. The Civil War revoked the states’ ability to secede from the union, making it harder for the states to become independent. This made the states have to work with the union and make peace. One person who tried to keep everything peaceful was Abraham Lincoln. The American CIvil War was a bloody war between men of the same country. The Southern States were fighting hard to keep their rights to slavery. This eventually led seven states to break away and become the Confederate States. This number eventually grew to eleven, and they were lead by their president, Jefferson Davis. While the remaining states,or the Union, were lead by then president Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln was the president after the election of 1860. After the Union won the civil war, the Confederacy was back to a part with the Union. Sadly, Lincoln got assassinated and his vice president, Andrew Johnson, became president of the Union. Both Lincoln and Johnson agreed with the idea of giving full amnesty to the Confederacy and allowing them to join the north again with no harsh punishments after Lincoln’s death, Johnson continued rebuilding the Union with the idea of amnesty. In addition, Congress thought that both Lincoln and Johnson wanted too much power.
Events were going as planed in the first year of the war. In the second year of the war, the battles’ results were too ugly due to the incompatibility between the new weapons and the old war tactics with no concrete signs of possible future improvement. Therefore, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation in September 1862, despite opposition even from some Northerners. Lincoln declared war for the sake of union. Southerners were motivated to secession by their greed for control and the fear at the same time of the Northerners domination.
From Lincoln’s strong opinion about slavery to his actions leading to the war, Abraham Lincoln is the president most responsible for the Civil War. The Civil War was a battle over slavery and tariffs. While the North hoped to abolish slavery, the south wanted to continue it. The South knew Lincoln was against slavery, and he was the first president to strongly oppose the extension of slavery. After Lincoln was elected president, the South was outraged since they knew he was a threat to the economic and political interest of slavery.
From the years 1861 to 1865, the United States was going through an internal conflict. Although the country had been in conflicts before, this one was different from any other conflict the nation had faced. This conflict was the civil war and it had divided the nation in two. The confederate states fought against the union states over states' rights to things like slavery. The president at this time was Abraham Lincoln and he supported the union side of the conflict.

My Argument Stephen A. Douglas I didn’t want slavery to spread into other territories. Let’s spread slavery into the west, and other places. I’m more honest than many other people. I tell it as it is. It’ll show the world that we’re dominate.
After, The Supreme Court’s confirmation on the legality of slavery in the territories convinced a lot of Southerners that the Northern was seeking the destruction of the “peculiar institution” that was sustained, which made the Southern, and Northern ties almost on its last straw. Then Lincoln’s election was the final straw, and made seven of the Southern states seceding from the United States. When the Civil War was over The Union won even though their armies weren’t as great as the South’s they managed a close victory possibly because of The Union’s sheer number of troops, but even though The Union won they lost a great leader, Abraham Lincoln who was assassinated by a Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes which turned the hearts of the people of the United States dearly, thus ending the American Civil War at a cost of 620,000 soldiers from both sides, plus a great leader Abraham
Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860 and was content on demolishing slavery on his rise to power. But other states did not want to give up their slaves. This is what ignited the Civil War. The seven states that were content on keeping their slaves formed an alliance that would later be called the Confederacy. The Civil War between the Union and the Confederacy lasted four bloody years of battling. Before Abraham Lincoln took oath as president in 1860, the Southern secessionists called for an immediate disunion from the United States. The Confederacy was originally formed by seven slave states in the Deep South that depended on the African American slaves for the benefits of their agricultural economy. Both Presidents, Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, used their military experience to have a durable army of men to defeat one and another. While both the Northerners and Southerners believed they fought in the Civil War over tyranny and oppression, the ideal of secession and slavery influence political viewpoints and economical distinction.
Whilst the Northern faction was against slavery, the Southern faction was for, this and some other contributing factors caused the civil war which changed America for the better. However so, this was not without causalities, many white and black men died and the south was littered with battlefields and cemeteries. As Abraham Lincoln stated in the Gettysburg Address, “The world will little note nor remember what we said here, but it can never forget what they did here” (27). In this statement, Lincoln stated that not everyone will remember what we have done for the United States but they will never forget what events occurred here. At this time I wasn’t on either side, but after listening to speeches and courts of civil rights of African Americans I knew it was time for a change. I knew that the only way I can make a change is to be elected as president. In 1860 I was elected the 16th president of the United States.
