Hi Katie, Just checking in to see if you had a chance to review your calendars and see if there is a time that works best for both you and Mary Sue. I have a few scheduled meetings next week, but I am free all day Tuesday (August 2nd) or Thursday (August 4th). Let me know if there is an opening and I can swing by or we can also meet somewhere else if that is preferred. Thanks!
After the flight from San Juan del Sur, Abigail and I have finally arrived in Isle de Ometepe. We were so exhausted from the three days prior to arriving in the second city that we chose to have a rest day. Now that we both were well rested, we planned a day filled with trying new dishes such as the Gallo Pinto, which consists of beans and rice (Scharf, “Where”). Later on that day, we decided to take a bike tour of the island; I brought my disposable camera in my backpack to take pictures of the beautiful scenery. In addition to riding bikes, Abigail and I visited multiple sites around the island where we found ancient petroglyphs; these petroglyphs are famous for its pre-Columbia’s history.
Hi Sumner, I’m glad to here from you. Yes, I’m back, but I haven’t return to work yet, I’m trying to settle first. My husband and I are staying in Pompano Beach while we find a home for us. Also, we are sharing car until next weekend, when he will get one. So, I won’t be able to help you this time, but I truly appreciate that you thought about me.
My personal Artifact is a baseball my son and I caught at the Giants game. It is white, round, has red stitches, and is smooth when new, but when we caught it it was beat up and the blue writing on it was smeared. A baseball is small and light in size. It can be thrown at speeds up to 100 MPH, or hit at at speeds higher than 100MPH, so when playing the game or watching you should be paying attention at all times. A baseball is made of a rubber or cork center, wrapped in yarn very tight, covered by white leather with red stitching around the out side, making it a very hard ball.

“Why were we here?” I questioned myself “We had a great life we had food, water, shelter, and great tribe members, until he Hernado de Soto showed up and not even that he was a kind white horseman he didn’t hurt us until today.” “Order in the court Cherokee vs Europeans” the judge exclaimed. This was our chance to beat the Europeans, we couldn't back down now.
It has been twenty years in the making to create myself. I started out sheltered. So to say, hidden from the real world. Being born and raised it out it the middle of a corn field was rough, but not what you would consider rough. It was all about take it or leave, or fix it or do without.
As a student of Esko High School, I have come to notice that almost every year there is at least one project or paper that everyone dreads. Freshman year is the three-hundred word vocabulary project; junior year is the American author paper and senior year is the infamous I Search Paper. Throughout the years, I 've been told of how the I Search paper takes a lot of time and effort. When I was asked to go home and think of a few words that I might like to write about I made sure to chose words that I could relate to. The first word that came to mind was love; I wanted to write about love because there is an immense amount of it in the world and we 're all surrounded by it nearly every minute.
A Profession of Arms is an experience a person can’t truly understand if they never served in any type of militarize organization. Those who served must understand the culture, the history and they always have a reason why they volunteered. They must follow a certain code of conduct and discipline which often make them look or behave differently among others. I joined the Army for the transformation and to do something different comparing the friends that I grew up with. When I graduated from Basic and AIT my friends noticed the changes that occurred in my life when I returned home.
Before she left, she said to me, "Mother. We should fight for the Humanity. We should join the Dominion army. Become Ghosts. Become Heroes."
I thank you for reaching out to me. Have a good rest of your day!
Enhancing My Roots Being Mexican-American has been such a blessing to me. Growing up I would feel embarrassed to have brown skin and to my speak my first language, which is Spanish. I would feel jealous hearing the other kids speak English so well as I struggled more and was placed in English Language Development. I would detest to get pulled out of class and get asked trivial questions like “what is this?” when it was a simple book.
Hope to speak with you soon, happy Halloween. Best Regards,
