Growing up in a Mexican household, the food we ate always had a spice to it. Whether the spice was on the side or already prepared in the food, my food always had a spice to it. My grandma’s favorite signature spice was her Pico De Gallo. Pico de Gallo also called salsa Fresca, is made from chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, fresh Serrano’s (jalapeños or habaneros are used as alternatives), salt, and key lime juice. After the flight from San Juan del Sur, Abigail and I have finally arrived in Isle de Ometepe. We were so exhausted from the three days prior to arriving in the second city that we chose to have a rest day. Now that we both were well rested, we planned a day filled with trying new dishes such as the Gallo Pinto, which consists of beans and rice (Scharf, “Where”). Later on that day, we decided to take a bike tour of the island; I brought my disposable camera in my backpack to take pictures of the beautiful scenery. In addition to riding bikes, Abigail and I visited multiple sites around the island where we found ancient petroglyphs; these petroglyphs are famous for its pre-Columbia’s history.

For example, recently my family has lost a member of our family, our beloved dog, Toby, died. Everyone in the family is handing Toby’s death differently, my mom and aunt and are looking at pictures of him and crying while my grandmother and I are trying to remember the good times we had, by swapping stories and experiences with him. This week I am working with a close-knit Italian-American family, which consists of Isabelle (wife/mother), Paul (oldest son), Sophia, and twins Lenore and Joseph. Recently this family has suffered the loss of Victor, the family patriarch, and Isabel's husband for 53 years.

When we think of Renaissance Architecture, we often think of the classical features employed, such as: columns, arches, and domes. Renaissance Architectural details resemble gothic architecture by their paneling, hipped roofs, and even there tower and spire. Filippo Brunelleschi, famous within Italian renaissance, is famous for creating the dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, also just referred to as the cathedral of Florence. During the making of his dome, he had created a popular architectural detail in the Renaissance Era called the tower and spire.
Sigh. It was sixth period, my least favorite period: AP World History. I had always disliked history because of it seemed boring and there was always a massive amount of reading and memorization to do for the class. LA Spirit! While i have so many things i’m passionate about the thing that comes to me the most is my city. Los Angeles has been so good to me in the concept of sports. As a student of Esko High School, I have come to notice that almost every year there is at least one project or paper that everyone dreads. Freshman year is the three-hundred word vocabulary project; junior year is the American author paper and senior year is the infamous I Search Paper. Throughout the years, I 've been told of how the I Search paper takes a lot of time and effort. When I was asked to go home and think of a few words that I might like to write about I made sure to chose words that I could relate to. I can just see it in front of me already! Hundreds and hundreds of paintings of Jesus on his crucifix and many paintings of arched churches which finally show the dimensions we see in real life.
