When I turn one me and my family moved to the city of Lippstadt I had to say goodbye to my friends and my grandpa. The Lippe river flowed beyond the large garden in the back of our new house. I took care of the garden they were roses, tulips, and so many daffodils. When was 6 years old, my family moved to a nearby city of bielefeld, that whe and my family entered me into a public school I was so happy that I got to go to school and make new friends ,but a year later I felt uneasy everyone was staring at me ,my friends didn’t talk to me I kept hearing whispers about me and every time I ask what there doing
Crackle, pop the fire sounded as I placed new logs on top of the hot embers. This was the fire the children of my village sat around and told stories before they went to sleep, and tonight was no different. All of their eyes stared at me expectantly as they waited for me to start telling them a story. “Two Rivers Running, tell us the Story of the Great Battle again,” the little ones asked. All eyes were on me as I sat down next to them, everyone silent as I told them the story of the Great Battle.
I had no idea how to tell her my name, since she did not know English, but I just wrote my name. I was enthralled to see that she nodded her head. She could read English,, but could not speak it or listen to someone else without wavering and being confused. Three years passed, and I was thirteen. It felt as if it would be a tedious amount of time until I reached home.
I thought that it was smart how we had to find our reading pace for each book. It is different from Elementary School and Middle School. I liked how you had us write reflections of the books, instead of just writing the page numbers. This helps me comprehend the book better because I have to go back and re-read parts of the book that I didn't get in order to finish the writing. I read many books this year, but my favorite was Ender's Game.
Directly after robotics club and procrastination, my favorite pastime is reading. Starting in elementary school I would pick up a book that intrigued me and read it through without ever setting it down. My reading habits got worse(or better depending on how you look at it) once my parents bought me a Kindle and gave me the means to purchase a book whenever I wanted to. Ultimately, my kindle led to some problems at school because I stopped paying attention in class in order to read.
I am Princess Abrahams. I am a 15 year old girl from Nigeria who came to the United States at the age of 13. I came to America on January 19, 2013 , A day I will never forget. I stepped my feet in America, the "Land of Freedom and Opportunities ". It was a very exciting journey at knowing the aspects of different opportunities and no limit of who I wanted to be.
Sigh. It was sixth period, my least favorite period: AP World History. I had always disliked history because of it seemed boring and there was always a massive amount of reading and memorization to do for the class. Every unit, we would get a thick packet of papers to read on top of the textbook reading assigned. Half the time, I felt as if the reading was written in some incomprehensible alien language.
My parents were rubber tree farmers. The government owns the trees so we didn’t make much money. Every day after school, I had to go and help my parents at the farm. I didn’t have time to study for another language at home; beside, my schools didn’t allow me to take an English class. The simple reason was that I’m not a teacher’s kid.

As I saw the world of America as soon we landed, I knew that I had an opportunity to succeed if I tried my best. My mom, my dad, my brother; no one knew how to speak English. We had to get help from my aunt to find a house and fill in the application for attending school. I attended Strawberry Point Elementary School in San Francisco without knowing any English. I was scared, yet determined to succeed.
I am Tajrin Sraboni, 12 years old. I am a student in PS/MS194, New York City, for 5 years, but I grow up in Dhaka, Bangladesh. When I was 7 years old 's I moved to the United States, in Castle Hill, New York City with my family. It was so difficult time for me because I had to adjust to New York peoples, change my language and style. And if I don 't come to this country, my life would be hugely different from now.
life was tough the first year, I didn’t know anything or anyone, I didn’t even know a hint of English. I was suppose to be in 3rd grade but they placed me in 4th grade which meant that they expected me to know more. In fourth grade, I didn’t learn much but in 5th grade I had this teacher named Mrs.Gomez and she pushed me so much into doing a better job. She helped me out a lot and supported me because she had a similar story as mine. She would always say “ Roma, talk to your friends in English not Nepali,” and that actually helped because I got the hang of just communicating in
Imagine me as a seven years old little girl that was told by her mother that we will be moving to the United States and live there. Moving from Vietnam to the United States was a very long trip for me, at the age that you don’t know much about life. All I can think of when my mother saying that we will be moving to the United States is that there will be a lot of fun, I don’t have to school and life will be very easy. But that not the case, moving to a place that is not your hometown and don’t speak their language is very hard and challenging. It’s so challenging that I was fell one grade behind because they said I can’t speak English well and cannot listen to what they said, I feel kind of shame toward myself until now.
The Cold War was a conflict between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, that also caused many damages to other countries such as Vietnam, that later got involved into their own Cold War – North Vietnam (Democratic Republic of Vietnam with its capital – Hanoi) against South Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam with its capital – Saigon). Today, I’m going to be talking about the social and economical state of Vietnam after the Cold War. I’m focusing on three main things that were affected after the Cold War, which are: Investment and trade, agricultural production, and how Vietnam’s economy developed after the Cold War. The first point I’m talking about is trade and investment.
My Literary Journey When you are reading, the author includes lessons for the reader to discover and understand along the way. Some authors share their personal experiences with us. They can be either good or bad. If they are good they encourage us to pursue these experiences through hidden messages in the book. If they are bad they encourage us to not pursue these experiences through certain events that are expressed through the plot of the story.
