The buzzer going off, the crowd cheering, for the first time in school history, Trinty Clinton Township are state chapions. That team made history, acheiving far more than what any spartan was thought possible, but this team accomplished far more than a state championship. There has been Trinity greats that have made a mark in the Trinity basketball program history. I knew, this being my last year at trinity, that I had had mighty big shoes to fill if I also wanted to make a perminet mark at trinity. "The differance between successful people and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will"- Vince Lambardi.
The time I almost got cut from the basketball team.the first day of tryouts I didn’t come because I didn’t have my physical at the time.but when I got it I was there and lots of people were and only fifteen could qualify. On the first day all we had to do was shoot and show our form. But we did do something a little fun you had to get a partner and perform some moves on him. So the coach said “go” me and my partner which was Robert.
“Why can’t we get into our freaking offense!?” This is all I really remember from Coach McKendrick at halftime last year against Niles North in what was a tough night for our basketball team. Prior to this, we beat New Trier at home and then went on the road and beat the pre-season unanimous vote to win conference, Highland Park, in our first conference game. Before the New Trier game, our game plan was simple: we were smaller, but faster, so we were going to run the court and make this is a fast pace game. We executed our gameplan, and we won.
The crowd sees a team of five walk on to the court, but together we are one. This is my community, the basketball community! Basketball is much more than a game, for it is an art, an education, and a strategic battle. I embrace the competition, comradeship,
What is cultural identity? I haven't heard about this concept till my tenth grade English Language Arts class. I thought about this question throughout the months. Then I asked myself what represents my cultural identity? It took awhile for me to figure it out, but it came to me, SPORTS!
The fall of my sophomore year I attempted what was, for me, almost unthinkable. My daunting task: trying out for the school basketball team. This may not seem like a big deal to most, but for me, just filling out the paperwork was an agonizing decision that I put a lot of thought into. I recognized long ago that one of my greatest fears is failure, and as a fairly uncoordinated and inexperienced nerd, that seemed the most likely outcome. I also have a crippling aversion to public embarrassment, to the point that a twisted sense of logic often prevents me from participating in events as simple as a party.
I fell in love with basketball when I was 5 years old, and it has taught me many life lessons ever since. Basketball has taught me about teamwork, work ethic, time management, and healthy living which are helping me become successful. I learned that teamwork is one of the most important skills needed for a successful basketball team. We have to be able to work together to achieve a common goal. To be honest, I have not loved every single teammate I have played with, no one has.
Generally speaking, it is every freshman’s dream to play varsity. In my case, however, it is quite the opposite. I started playing basketball in the seventh grade. For me at the time it was just a way for me to pass the time and stay in shape for track. I ended up playing into my eighth and freshman year of high school.
Four years ago I never thought that basketball would come to an end. During my freshman year I thought that high school was endless, and senior year seemed like a distant future. Last Wednesday brought me back into reality, and showed me that the end is near. It was the District Semi-Final game, and of course we had to play McBain for the third time this season. That day we had an overall good feeling about the game, but there was also this nagging sensation that volleyball may repeat itself.
The Mentor we going to talk about today is my basketball coach. Coach was tall & dark skin and he had a low cut with waves. Coach is a great man and a well coach. Then we have one of his players.
I was at the GVSU dorms over the summer for a basketball camp when something truly traumatic happened to me. The second night we were there, most of my team was gathered in one dorm room to play 10 fingers, or the stupid game more commonly known as never have I ever. The game was just starting to reveal some actually interesting things about people when we hear a scream from somewhere else in the dorms. We did not think much of it, because with about six girls basketball teams cramped in a small area there was bound to be screaming. We did pay a little bit more mind to it when someone started pounding on the door.
The Joy of Basketball I’m on the couch laying down. At a glance, I might be relaxing, but I am intensely focused on the game. The sweat is pouring off of me like Niagra Falls, not because I’m under a blanket and the heat’s cranked up but because I am that emotionally invested in what’s happening on the court. My Oklahoma City Thunder are barely up at the end of the game, and the butterflies are kicking in, like they’re wearing size-13 steel-toed boots. We escaped with a victory by only two points.
Air ball— again. My form was lost, coordination gone, and so was my patience. I’ve stopped playing basketball for 3 months mainly because of school work and things going on in my life. I was determined to get my skills back no matter how long it’ll take. I started a game of basketball with other people inside the gyms court.
I once took a risk when I played basketball. Risk can happen every time in our life not except playing the sport like basketball. Sports activity like basketball, we need to be careful about the accident because it is an activity to play with another player who plays with you. On Sunday, I was playing basketball with my friends who study in IC faculty in the basketball court at Mahidol university near to documentary 11.
When I was a child, I did not necessarily have a favorite toy as if to say, but there one thing in particular that I always used to liked playing with. That one thing was Basketball, A child’s favorite toy is usually something a child would bring around with them all the time and would cherish. That's exactly what I would do with my basketball. That leathery-bumpy skin of the ball in hands while I would dribble diligently down the street, was one of the greatest feelings I had as a child. The squeaking of shoes on the court and the swish of the ball in the hoop was probably the second best thing about basketball.
