Have you ever worked so hard at something, gave it all you had, and then see everything you’ve done pay off in the end?
It was the summer of 7th grade, I was only a few days away from beginning my eighth grade quest. This year, we were getting a different math teacher, Ms. Helkowski. I had always thought of myself as proficient in math, achieving high scores. Little did I know that this year, all that would change.
Our class discovered soon enough that our previous teacher never pushed us to put in the effort. She always gave us recurrent opportunities for A’s or extra credit. But Ms. Helkowski was a high school math teacher. We were told that we would have to cover two year's worth of math, in a single year.
A few weeks passed and it seemed everyone had accommodated to this pace change, except for me. I had never had to work this hard at school, usually math came to me. Soon, the A’s I was getting in 7th grade, began to turn to B’s, and then C’s.

I wasn’t studying for quizzes or tests. But I kept it a secret from my parents and finally brought up my grade. Maybe that’s what I should do this time. Maybe I just don’t tell my parents and try to do it myself it will work.
