Personal Narrative: My Experience In The American Ranch Horse Association

Growing up in rural Missouri, I have always experienced horses. I have ridden for my entire life. I have had a variety of valuable equine experience. From a young age, I have worked on my family’s farm. At our farm, I have learned great responsibility. I have taken the roles of caring for our horses. Horses require a great deal of work. The traits I have learned have been very beneficial. I have learned everything from how to defrost a water tank on a frigid winter morn, to making sure each horse has adequate hay and grain each evening. I have also learned how to ride. Learning to ride has greatly shaped my life. Horse have life much easier. I use horses for trail riding, ranch work, and even showing.

I have received a multitude of opportunities, and they have greatly allowed me to prosper as a person. Equines have shaped my life. I have acquired many traits that will benefit in my future. Involvement in the American Ranch Horse Association has profited me immensely. I has allowed me to meet new people. Also, I have received the chance to learn about new ways of riding and showing. ARHA has opened my horizons and given me a better understanding of showing. I has allowed me to take my ranch horses from the ranch to the show ring. I have been given the opportunity to compete against those who have a similar lifestyle and understand the ranch horse. I desire to continue my education, by attending the University of Missouri-Columbia, so that I have a more established future. I want to make sure that I have a degree to fall back on if need be. I also want to continue to learn. Curiosity has pushed me to further my learning. We learn from every experience in life, and I want to learn more. It has taught me how to be dependable. It has taught me that your work for what you want and need. It has taught me to be an optimist, since your never know how the crops will fare, and how the cows will calve. It has also taught me that when your have a dream of something, you must wake up and conquer that dream. Living on a farm has taught me a great deal of things. Through the acquired knowledge, I have gained a large amount of wisdom and character. I believe that what I have learned through the past eighteen years, will help me greatly to stand out in college and achieve my dreams. I believe that I hold an abundance of good qualities, that would make me a good candidate for this scholarship. I know the ends and outs of the American Ranch Horse, and thus I believe I greatly qualify for this
